A public service announcement, since it seems that all of you are extremely in need of the reminder:
There is less than a month left of school.
(You're welcome.)

To be precise, there are twenty-three days left. Slightly more than three weeks. Only seven of those are exams, so approximately 30% of our remaining days will be spent in torture.
In terms of hours, it's even less. 23 days is 552 hours. There are 40 total hours of exams remaining. Comparatively, that means 7% of our time, and all of it before the end of May.
I could compare that to the amount of time in your lifespan, or that the universe has existed, but I don't want to write that many fucking decimals.
It will be over soon. Don't give yourselves aneurysms.

The number of wild-eyed fifth years I've seen today is beginning to border on amusing. I'm sure I don't remember this much panic during OWLs last year.

That said, I have some free time to help anyone in dire need of Potions or Astronomy practice before next Monday's exams. Since I'm considering going into teaching now is as good a time as any to begin.

[Private to Alfred Jones]
And my constant comments as to your hard-headedness prove true. That was quite a knock you took.

To our darling Fifth and Seventh years about to take their OWLs and NEWTs, don't worry, it's not the end of the world if you fail! You can always become a janitor or a grounds keeper, perhaps even drive a bus!

That being said, if any of you needs a bit of reassurance, Dolores and I have the Calming Draughts ready but be warned that we will not be dispensing them so often as to let you become addicted to them.

Also, if I find another pair of students attempting to make babies in broom closets as a means of destressing, I will give you detention with one of the potions professors about the birds and the bees and you will have to write an essay on the matter of arousal controlling substances. I'm sure you don't want that on top of your exams, ja?

That's all and take care my sweethearts! Remember, Mamma's always here for you!

Job well done to the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff teams. All of you did extremely well in the match and although there can only be one house that will hold the cup for the year, you should all be proud of yourselves. By my account, all of you are victors.

I eagerly await the next game between the Lions and the Ravens. I'm sure that neither team will disappoint! It's been such a long time since I've watched a House game, I had nearly forgotten how exciting it all is. I can't wait for the final match, I'm sure it will be a spectacular one.

Quidditch match aside, I'm afraid it's time for me to dish out some tough love to my students! There will be an obstacle course set up this Friday for my Flyers; nothing too difficult, but it will be tricky, so make sure you save some time for your brooms this week. A little outdoor activity in between your books and quills will do all of you some good anyway; some of you are turning the colour of parchment! I'm glad that students are taking their studies seriously but remember to take care of your health; eat well, drink plenty of water, and most importantly sleep enough! Don't let me catch any more students pulling late-nighters at the library. It's not only against the rules but with all those black rings around the eyes you might find yourself slowly turning into a panda!

So with the end of the term drawing near I'm going to be offering some extra office hours. I can be available to you right before it's lights out for you kiddos. Anything from the drawing of your runes, perhaps I could help you translate something, maybe we can go over some runic scriptures together? Hey, whatever you want.

With that being said! Everyone's favorite time, homework time.

You guys remember those last couple of runes we went over? Just practice drawing them, and then turn your notes from the last class to me so I can check them and make sure you've got all your information right. Ooooone more thing! Turn to chapter ten of Ancient Runes Made Easy, read the chapter and write me a one page paper on what you've learned. Not too hard, right? Cool!

The end of the term is nigh.

[Alec draws out the pause for a moment, before he continues.]

And whatever other overdramatic bullshit phrase people like to use in lieu of admitting that you're scared that you'll fail.

Perhaps if you spent more time studying and less time talking about it, you wouldn't be so far behind that it requires cramming.

[His voice is an arrogant drawl; he's poking at people because it amuses him to do so, nothing more, nothing less.]

Just a friendly bit of advice. Maybe you can use it when you have to repeat this year again.

After thoroughly investigating the house cup situation, I believe the probability of winning this year is highly in our favour! We have to put our noses to the grindstone until we can smell sweet victory beneath the salty tang of everyone else's tears. If we don't, I may have to call on the powers vested in the end of my cane when walking around the common room! You could say it'll be a "shindig" for sure. >:]

Outlandish parties aside, I have to say writing on a small roll of parchment for studying is kind of restricting! Arithmancy sure is demanding in its space. It has bigger and better plans and I think it's getting its way.

[ Sorry, Ravenclaw girls. There's now red chalk all over one wall of the dorm. Some of it looks like dates, diagrams, and calculations, although it might just be overenthusiastic scribbling. It's a little difficult to tell. ]

I suppose I should be glad that, as tests and finals go, 6th year is kind of a breather year. The OWLs are behind you and the NEWTs are still looming on the horizon but otherwise not an immediate threat. I personally didn't think the OWLs were all that bad, even though my marks were just decent. Nothing to write home about, especially since the family wouldn't know what nocturnal birds have to do with tests anyway. Still, good luck to everyone who's got to square off against the big tests this year, especially if you're still trying to get your head sorted after the school's most recent bout with strangeness.

Ah yeah, about that, the odd mind and body stuff. The only thing I had to deal with was a body that was about 20 years older than it ought've been (and the same height I am now, of course). I remember the whole thing pretty clearly, but I think that's because my mind wasn't changed. So... for those of you who've been told that their brains were mixed up, do you remember anything about those days at all? Is it like you blacked out for a few days, or is it all a little fuzzy, or do you remember all of it clearly?

I ask because I'm sure I'm soon to have a certain conversation, and this'll give me some insight on where that talk will fall on a scale of "awkward" to "stupdendously awkward".

Steadily, I'm falling under the idea that many people use the Doubling Charm to be cheap. Why would you duplicate your cup instead of just buying a second one? It's just going to decay over time. The origin of it is reasonable enough and I understand the practical and strategic uses, but from my studying, it seems most people misuse it. Maybe that's just "muggle" of me.

Also, after going over the duties and the time requirements, I'm thinking of becoming a prefect.

P.S. Welcome back, seems most of you are back in your right mind or body.

I'm not even going to go into the weirdness that happened. AGAIN. Ugh, this place is getting weirder and weirder sometimes I swear. I'm just glad that we don't have a heck of a lot more time in the school year for things to get even crazier.

Instead I'm going to concentrate on more awesome things. Like Quidditch and getting ready for our final exams. mostly Quidditch

Right. Now the castle seems to have stopped playing funny buggers ... Again.

Means it's time I set some homework. Because every time this happens, no one seems to ever show up for classes.

Right, for the ankle biters, that's my 1st through 3rd's:
I want you to do readings on the basics on turning animals into inanimate objects and what counts as an ethical stool shape for a parrot.

For my other tackers. 4th and 5th's:
I want my 4th's to do 4 inches on the practical uses of using cross-species switches in everyday life, because we'll be actually doing it in class soon. And my 5th's I want a list of pros and cons on using Geminio. At least four things on each side.

My 6th year nippers:
We're going to be looking at human transformations. So I want 6 inches on the differences between Animagi and Metamorphagi

7th years get nothing extra. just focus more on you're N.E.W.T reviews.

Well! That was all interesting, was it not? I think we have had more than our fair share of time to recover from whatever silly tricks the castle saw fit to play upon us recently though, would you not say? So I am afraid that I must assign you all some homework!

Do not fret, it's simple work to make sure your minds have not gone wandering from your studies!

I would like for my third to fifth years to write an essay detailing the uses of electricity in the home, and to give me examples of at least 2 electrical appliances that Muggles require every day. Not for leisure, but for practical use. Do not turn in less than two paragraphs.

Sixth and seventh years, I would very much enjoy twice as much information on the subject of television and how integral it is to the lives of Muggles. Your paper should successfully answer this question: "Is television a necessity or a luxury to a Muggle?" The choice is yours, and your papers will be graded on how well you convey your opinion to me!

Prepare for an in-class discussion on these subjects next time we meet! And if you would care to earn some extra credit in class for participation, let me know and I will arrange for you to read your essay in front of the class. ♡

[[Homework Post btw, I forgot. New to this. D=]]

This is perhaps the strangest hallucination I have ever experienced. Tactile is not generally a component nor do I tend to believe I've lived two different childhoods. Can't be H.O.U.N.D. and I haven't used. Lucid dreaming, perhaps? Most likely though in that case I have rather lost control. Very odd indeed, but then I do seem to harbor the belief that this book will populate itself with responses and that I'm at a school for learning magic. It hardly does to only call one thing odd when so much is absolutely ridiculous. But I believe it. That shouldn't be possible.

I'll have to consider carefully how to move forward from here. I'm not sure how but it could be Moriarty. Makes as much sense as anything.

Let's talk about dreams today.
And by that, I felt the need to talk about mine in specific.

It was fantastical and surprising. All of us were muggles! Well, I mean, those who were in my dreams. Some of us were trolls even. It was so very odd. We played a game that destroyed our worlds and we played even when we were meant to fail. I have it all written down. Every event of my dream. It would take much too long to talk about on here, but it made me wonder quite a bit.

Do you believe in alternate worlds? Universes? A time where you were something else completely. Perhaps you were a mere human with no magic to you. Or perhaps a god.

Have you ever had dreams where you felt that there was some truth to them before?

Welcome back to school my darlings! I hope you enjoyed your break.

Now, spring is well on its' way and the little flowers are popping up everywhere - wonderful, ja? Unfortunately for some of you I know hay-fever is a problem. Never fear! I have prepared the brews for saving your sinuses from killing your ability to function. Come by the Hospital Wing when able and I will administer the appropriate doses and they should last for the full month.

Until then, stay healthy!
