I just wanted to greet all the Gryffindors and welcome them to the Hufflepuff dorms. Unofficially, really, since I'm doing this over the journals, but I think it's more effective than trying to get the whole common room's attention.

I'm a Hufflepuff prefect, and will be happy to help out anyone from either house who needs anything at all!

Excuse me. I think I am lost.

Oh? Where are you?

I don't know. I saw a painting and it started moving and I followed it. Then the staircase moved, and I don't know where to go.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

Oh, you poor thing! You're a first year, then? You should find an older student and ask where you are.

[remembertheroses]

I'm alone.

Please help me. The painting is asleep and I don't want to disturb it.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

I can't really help if I don't know where you are... Oh! What does the painting look like?

It's a knight on a very small horse. I cannot remember his name.

There is also a statue nearby. It's got one eye and a hump.

I'll be there as soon as I can.

[And when Rapunzel does eventually find her, she'll find Ib peering at the different portraits around. She might even recognize Ib as the girl from Diagon Alley.]

[Indeed she does! As well as from the Sorting.]

Oh! Ib, hello!

[Oh, it's the girl from the Alley! Ib offers a tiny smile and a wave.]

P-punzie. Hello. Thank you for coming for me.

You're welcome. Let's get you back to the dorm, huh? Then I can help you make a map!

[A nod, as she follows Rapunzel back to the Hufflepuff dorms.]

I'm sorry for getting lost.

Oh, you don't have to be sorry for that! It happens to everyone at some point in first year.

[Ib just nods her head one more time before she falls back into her customary silence. Rapunzel has been friendly to her, but Ib's always been a passive and shy young thing.]

Everyone will be willing to help you out, though.

[So far, she hasn't seen anything that would discount what her senior was telling her. Most Hogwarts people, even the first years on the train, were very kind to her.

So have another silent nod.]

You're pretty shy, huh? So was I, when I started here.

[remembertheroses]

[This is not the first time she's been called out on her shyness. Still, Ib doesn't really know what to say to it. She just usually tilts her head to one side slightly, silently curious as to why it matters. While some of it is shyness, she's also really not an outgoing person. And she's usually fine with that.]

I still made lots of great friends, though... And I'm sure you will, too! Consider me your first.

[That offer earns Rapunzel a small smile from Ib yet again. She's had friends before, so she's no stranger to them, but having someone so much older offering to look out for her does a lot to ease the bitty's insecurities. The junior Hufflepuff bowed her head slightly towards her senior, grateful for the opportunity.]

Thank you Punzie. I would like to be your friend too.

Excellent. You don't have to thank me at all! I love having new friends.

Well, my favorite thing is painting!

What do the towers smell like?

Man stench!

Well, that doesn't sound too nice!

It is not. Though I suppose we would stink no matter where our dorms were.

I bet it's not too bad, though.

You get used to it. It's strange when you visit another dorm and it is so much nicer.
