You know that while this is a public forum, it's not required to write so formally. Even the teachers aren't this formal.
Also, you shouldn't apologise when you haven't done anything. That's kind of like asking for people to walk all over you.

Ah...America, then. That makes more sense. I am Ludwig, I know my English is perhaps a little too formal, but this is how I was taught to speak.

To clarify, I'm not American. Born and raised Londoner. Specifically, I'm from Kensington.
Would your German (I'm assuming?) be more relaxed than this, then? My old school always taught formal manners of speaking too, but I think if you're hear long enough it'll be easier to pick up more commonly used ways of speaking.

I do speak more loosely in German, yes. However I tend to only do that around my brother. Mm...I hope so; Gilbert is always telling me to lighten up, it's troublesome because this is just how I am used to acting.

I think I understand that to a degree, except I really didn't talk a lot except to a few people. It's a bit strange talking to a large variety of people.
But I guess "being yourself" is still the best policy so maybe you should just let things happen naturally and not push yourself into being otherwise.
