It's a bit more stringent in the Wizarding World, but it's easier for you to apply for a Muggle PR. That way he can't exactly deport you from the UK. He has to provide evidence, call a court. It can take awhile to deport a lawful British citizen, even if it's only a Muggle citizenship. You'll have more time to apply for the Wizarding one then.
