Namaste, students, professors, and staff of Hogwarts, especially first years! I am Salman Kumar, and for you Slytherin students and I one of your Prefects.

It seems a lot of strange things are happening -- possibly someone slipped Felix Felicis into our breakfast, don't you think? Though, I don't think it was brewed properly. Either way, it seems I have come into possession of a baby elephant, so if any you are interested, an impromptu meeting of the Cool Creatures Club will be held after classes but before dinner.

Ah, I received an owl today from my parents and I have some rather startling news. Having someone I trust to talk to might help clear my mind.

I'm a little tied up in the hospital wing at the moment but I'll be right with you.

It seems next summer I am going to get married. My parents have arranged it all, and they seemed rather firm about it.

It seems my family has come under circumstances that have forced me into marriage with a mobster's daughter. I have been told she is quiet pretty, but her temper is something fierce. If I don't, all the secrets my mother's side of the family has been holding for many generations will be exposed. I was also told to seduce her as best as I could.

[why does he not realize how ridiculous this sounds? OH WELL... like totally a movie he's watched five times.] I am not sure if she is a witch, but most likely a muggle. Not that I mind.

My life just got a bit more exciting, I suppose.

I will have to see what she is like, and maybe see if I can reason out different circumstances, but for now-[there's a pause in the writing.]

[There's a rather large inksplot - in fact Salman could be forgiven for thinking Arthur had just knocked the ink pot over the page.. which isn't far from the truth. When it's hastily mopped up, the stain fades, and then two words appear underneath]

I am sure we can work out all the little things. Weddings take a lot of planning and time, but I think our families would handle that. It most likely will be traditional, but with some Western influences of course- [another pauses as he realizes he's rambling.]

I apologize if this seems all so intimidating. I should have collected my thoughts better before telling you. I just needed someone to talk to, I suppose. It's something hard to keep to oneself.

My life seemed so ordinary these days, then suddenly this. It's rather strange, don't you think?

Given the choice between the two I think I'd prefer for things to stay ordinary.

[The amount of ink blotches and scratched out words probably already indicates her excitement.]

How did you get a baby elephant.

I am not sure, but I doubt one followed me all the way from India.

After classes, right? I have to see this for myself or I'm calling so much bullshit on this. I'm pretty sure there's no way it could have just wandered in from a zoo or something, so...

[Elephaaaant. Excuse her while she lets her quill bleed ink on the page again while she squeals a little bit.]

If she wasn't then I'd be surprised, baby animals are supposed to be cute, after all. I just. How on Earth are you going to take care of her?

I have experience with elephants, but never raising one so young by myself. I was thinking of asking members of my club after our meeting if anyone was interested in helping.

[The end of classes could not come soon enough, making her the most anxious thing in the history of ever to get out of there and go investigate this supposed baby elephant. Once she was able to leave she pretty much ran through the castle, dodging people as best she could to get herself to the library.]

Salman! [Hopefully she wasn't there too early, oops.]

[he hears his name being called, and he walks towards it. When he sees her, he waves.] Namaste, Elizaveta. I don't think she would disappoint anyone, least of all a pretty young lady. [and out comes a baby elephant, following him. It's kind of hard to miss her.]

[She's quick to head towards him when he waves, giving one in return. However she stops dead in her tracks when she sees that there really is a baby elephant in the library of all places. She's quick to cover her mouth to muffle the little delighted squeal that makes her seem so ridiculously younger and less rough around the edges than she is.]

You were telling the truth. Oh my god she is absolutely precious an-[She stops mid-sentence to stare at him a little bit, processing his words a bit further.] What did you call me?

Of course. Lying about such a thing would be very un-prefect like of me, and I'm not the type to prank first years these days. [He lets her fawn over the elephant, a big smile on his face. A fellow elephant lover is never a bad thing!]

Call you? [a little confused.] Elizaveta is your name, correct? I know you're in the cool creatures club, and I try to make sure I know all the members' names.

[Cutiiiiiie is pretty much her entire reaction to this elephant, just... just give her a few minutes to actually respond since she's far more interested in loving all over her. She's honestly never seen an elephant outside of zoos and circuses, so this is an absolutely new treat to her.]

I never said you were, we have more than enough people who prank them as it is. And it is my name, but I was talking about that... pretty lady... bit.

[She'll be giving her a few little scritches behind the ears before speaking again, her attention is pretty evenly divided somehow.] I don't ever hear that kind of thing.

Oh! [he laughs a little.] Well, I think it's true, and I think more handsome young men should address you as such. Unless most students have strange taste here, but I wouldn't be surprised. [he remains rather calm and collected about the situations, petting the baby elephant.]

I haven't given her a name yet, but I was deciding between Kajol or Kareena.

[Why does he have to say these things? Goodness, she's doing her best to not face him and hoping he doesn't see the color in her cheeks. Nope, she is certainly nothing more than a sportsman-like tomboy that isn't anything special at all. Not pretty, nuh-huh.] I'm pretty sure I scare all of them, to be fair with you. Since strong and outspoken with a tendency to get into fights and all that.

[It's kind of weird to her, to be around an animal that's smaller than her horses but will grow to tower over them in due time.] I'm personally fond of Kareena, if that helps you any.

Well, I am not afraid, and in some countries, a strong woman is very appealing. Then I suggest that you one day find someone that compliments your personality. [he's rather laid back and easy going about this all.]

Yes, I think it does. Kareena it is, then. [the elephant seems rather happy from all the attention.] I think you mentioned liking horses before, do you personally have any? Back in India, we have a few cows.

[That's the part that confuses her, the fact that he's just so calm about it.] Maybe some day, but I'm perfectly fine how I am for now. Less for me to have to worry about when it comes to going after my goals.

[Softest bit of a laugh, oh this is just way too much cute for her.] Hm? We have a lot of them, actually, dad breeds and trains them since it's what his side of the family has done for generations upon generations. We also had sheep, cattle, and dogs too. [She's heard a bit about India due to some similarities between culture and origins, but it's not a lot of information.] What kind? Our's are a particular breed, they're sturdy but look a lot different from the ones around here.

Ah, yes, we are young and we should enjoy our freedom and childhood! [He pats the elephant's head again, and she makes an excited sound.]

That's fascinating, and horses are such gracious, powerful creatures. [he pauses, trying to remember.] I think we have at least one Nagori, Kangayam... there are a lot of mixed breeds and many that run around the house, too.

What little we get of it between school and things we have to do, right? [Going to just. Quietly. Make a little noise akin to a squeal behind her hand.]

They really are, it takes a lot of work to get the kind of trust you need to do anything with them. There's just something about spending so much time and energy getting to know them to where yourself and the horse might as well be one being. [Oh, oh right, should probably stop gushing about those kinds of things. Sometimes she gets a tiny bit carried away in those things.

As for the cattle she pauses for a moment before tapping at her chin, trying to remember if she'd seen something about those before.] Those are more along the lines of oxen, aren't they? We have Hungarian Greys, they're such sweet creatures despite how intimidating they look.

I'm told we will look back on these days fondly, but as for now, it's hard enough to get through some classes, I will admit. [he gives a little wink towards her, looking rather amiable.]

I feel the same with my own elephants and a tiger back in India. Their energy is something I am always in awe and respect of.

[he nods.] Yes, they are a bit different from the cows found in Europe. In India the cow is a very sacred animal, and they're very spoiled by most people.

Aren't even something like baby elephants pretty large? Where do you even put something that big!
