Teacher's Quidditch is coming up soon. I'm pretty excited for it actually; didn't know so many of the professors knew how to play the game. I'll of course be rooting for the Ravenpuff team, but Gryfferin looks like a pretty tough team to beat.

Still, good luck to all the professors. I'll be cheering for all of you.

Listen, I know you told me that you didn't want to get to know other people after that disastrous party, but...having some friends who can be there for you when you need it isn't a bad thing either. Not that I won't make time for you, but just in case you can't reach me or Arthur for some reason or another.

I never said that. I just said I wasn't going to trust people. There is a slight difference.

And I have Madeline, so I'm not completely helpless without you or Arthur.
So I clearly have more than enough friends.

[There's a pause.]

If you'd like, I could introduce you to some of the Hufflepuff girls. Have you ever met Feferi or Nepeta? They're younger than you, but they're both very friendly.

I don't think I have. At least, I'm not really sure.

You've probably seen Feferi around, she's pretty popular in Hufflepuff. She's Professor Peixes's daughter; Meenah's her crazy twin sister from Slytherin. She's much nicer though and she's always trying to help out people. I think you'll like her.

Nepeta's a third year and she's a little quiet, but she's really cheerful. She uses a whole bunch of cat words, but other than that she makes good company. Her mum's Professor Vantas-Leijon, and her dad's Professor Vantas.

Well, maybe I might see if I can make an attempt to greet them next time I see them.

They'd be more than happy to stop and have a chat with you.

Oh, yes. Of course we're still on for it. I still find it awfully sweet that you thought of taking me there.

[A pause, and then he realises how strange that looks and quickly scribbles more explanations.]

I mean, if a mate was feeling down or anything, I'd usually treat him to a drink or buy him dinner.

[He's a little startled to see that, resulting in one or two drops of ink dotting the page.]

Mmm...the Ravenpuff team looks good but my money's on Gryfferin. A lot of the teachers on that team were good players in their day.

You'll have to give me the low down on this Roxas. I didn't know even know Professor Vantas was playing until I saw the board.

Well, I'm not sure about Professor Vantas but Professor Peixes was a brilliant Seeker in her day, and Professor Strider was also pretty amazing in his time on the Gryffindor team. I doubt Dumbledore wouldn't have first hired him as a Flying instructor unless he had the skills to pull it off.

Plus it's got Professors Donoghue and Matteris as two of their Chasers and Professor Wulfenbach as one of their Beaters...I think it's safe to say that despite their age it'll be a pretty tough team to beat.

You're not joking about Professor Wulfenbach, the man's massive. I feel sorry for the Ravenpuff Chasers already; I wouldn't want to be the target of his Bludgers.

What about Ravenpuff's chances? They got any?

I think they've got a decent chance of putting up a fight. It'll be a tough one that's for sure.

Ms Maryam may look like...how was it Professor Donoghue put it the other week?...doe-eyed but she has to be strong to be able to pull off being a Beater, and with Professor Coulson to back her up I'm pretty sure they'll make a really good team. They've also got Professor Rhydderch as one of the Chasers and Professor Vantas-Leijon as the Seeker for Hufflepuff...

Yeah, it's definitely going to be a close match.

It's a bit strange to see Professor Rhydderch as a Chaser and not a Beater, don't you think? The man's huge; not as big as Professor Wulfenbach but I'd reckon he'd be able to pull off a great performance as a Beater. Nothing against Ms Maryam, but I do think they should switch positions. Course I don't know how she well she plays...

When you think about it, Beaters are also capable of being pretty good Chasers, considering you need upper body strength for both practices. I've got no doubt Professor Rhydderch has good aim but perhaps there's more to Ms Maryam than meets the eye.

In any case, we'll have to wait until the weekend.

Yeah but the smaller you are, the faster you'll be. Speed's just as important for Beaters as strength is. But you're right; I guess we'll only know this weekend.

Were more of the teachers playing for Hogwarts when they were students?

As far as I know, Professors Peixes, Strider, Donoghue and Vantas-Leijon were on their house teams when they were students. Professor Coulson is from America and they play Quadpot over there instead of Quidditch, which I really can't understand? :\

Pretty sure they've got American Quidditch teams too; they're just not very good, it's what I heard.

Still, looks like it'll be a good game! I might ask the entire team to come down and watch, pick up some hints from the teacher's playing styles.

Maybe that's why I haven't heard anything about it. I mean I knew there were Quiddich teams but it might not be as big over there as it is here. Kind of like...what is it? pig skin football(?) compared to soccer.

Yeah, I've noticed that Muggles tend to have more sports than wizards. Quidditch is like a mixture of football, basketball and baseball.

Listen, it's great that you care a lot about Quidditch. I don't think there's any other student in Hogwarts who knows about it as much as you do. But I'm hearing that you've been falling a little behind your studies, and you do know that they're more important than flying at this point.

That's why I was excited about it when my parents really started telling me about what I was. It's like a sports fanatic's dream come true.

...Yeah, I kinda have been. I don't really like working through the theory of things. I'll admit I'm a little impatient when it comes to books and learning. I had the same problem in Muggle school.

Have you tried any of them? The Muggle sports, I mean.

I'm with you on that. I'm not a studying kind of bloke; I just do it because I need to pass. But some of the stuff they teach us in class is useful and you're going to need it for your finals and even for OWLs. You're taking it next year right? It's 5 years worth of knowledge and it's damn hard to keep it all straight. Starting early really helps though.

I'm rooting for Gryfferin. They have Professor Strider, for one thing. I think that alone will make things tricky for the Ravenpuffs.

He's a damn good flyer, but I wouldn't write off the Ravenpuffs just yet.

Yeah, they have some talent there, too, but I'm also biased. Gryffindor and all.

And you never know what might happen in a match. I'm hoping for an exciting game, at the very least. Roxas was telling me about how some of the teachers used to play for their teams when they were back in school. Apparently they were great players too, so I've got my standards set high for this match.

At any rate, are you excited for the upcoming match? Roxas is like a kid at Christmas, he can barely contain himself. I can't blame him, of course, I'm excited too, but God he's been going on and on about Quidditch facts non-stop since last week. It's nearly endearing.
