Hey music club! Don't make any plans for the next three weekends, because you're going to be spending all your time prepping for the Yule Ball. I picked out a bunch of records at Dominic Maestro's last Hogsmeade and have our track list sorted, all you guys need to do is practice your butts off and make us look good.

Congrats to the Honey Badgers and on the subject of Quidditch, Odinson and I were talking way back on Guy Fawkes Night and we came up with a few ideas on how to make things more interesting around here when there's a Quidditch match.

Pep rallies!

Pep rallies are an American thing but they're used to boost morale and support the players before a game. There's music and games and all sorts of things. It could be interesting and bring some life to this sorry place.

I spoke to my dad about my family history.

It turns out my great great great uncle had a relationship with a Muggle woman who I think might be your mum. He kept a painting of her and...well, she looks a lot like you, dude.

Holy shit really? Do you have it or a picture of it? What was his name? Mum barely ever mentioned him and when she did it was just "your father" or "that man" so I don't even know his first name.

...if it is her, I wonder why he kept a picture of her? I mean, I always assumed he didn't care seeing as how he just up and ditched us.

Yeah. I got my dad to send me everything he could. There's not really a lot to go on, but there's the painting and a locket. His name was Christian Abadeer.

Well, he was a Pureblood living in a time where it was expected of Purebloods to keep the line pure. According to what my dad sent me, he was the eldest child of his side of the family so there would've been some pressure on him to carry the line.

Sorry..I just..never knew anything. Christian huh?..it's a nice name..it would have fit well with my mothers if he had stayed. Mom's name was Grace.

Do you think I could see them sometime?

I suppose that's true. Maybe he wasn't a bad guy but still, it doesn't excuse him for what he did though.

It's okay, dude, I know. Grace is a pretty name.

No it doesn't, but he wasn't really in a position to upend family tradition. Movies and books make it sound so much easier than it actually is...

[Journal shut and he makes his way down to the common room.]

[She'll be sitting there at one of the tables, flipping through a few of the pages of family history her dad sent her, brow furrowed a little in concentration. There's a piece of paper beside that, a locket sitting on top of it.]

[He pretty much thunders down the stairs and skids to a halt before hesitantly making his way over and sitting down.]

"So that's it huh?"

Yep.

[She pushes the paper and the locket towards him.]

Your mum was really beautiful.

[He sets the papers on his lap and looks at the picture of the smiling woman inside. It was her. It was really her. He smiles softly.]
She really was. You know, I thought I remembered what she looked like perfectly but now I can see that my memory wasn't really that clear.

[He stares at it a few moments more before carefully shutting it and turning his attention to the papers. He picks them up and begins leafing through them.]

Its strange to think about..if he had stayed we'd have the same last name...

[She turns her head to look at him as she crosses her arms on the table, leaning her head down on them.]

You still could if you wanted to. I don't know what my dad's reaction will be to my...well, you know what, or any of this, but...I guess this explains the feeling I get when I'm around you.

[He bundles the papers together and sets them down and carefully sets the locket on top of them and leans back.]

Nah, I usually end up changing my name around every so often to throw suspicion off. I've switched things around and willed things to myself a few times now. Lee isn't even my original given last name..it's actually my middle name.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's kinda like..like coming home in a weird way. Or just something that's really comfortable and familiar to you.

Oh? [She raised an eyebrow.] What's your real last name then?

[Marcie glanced out the corner of her eyes to the table, tracing the patterns on it with a nail.]

I hope he doesn't react badly. I mean our relationship hasn't been crash hot since mama died, but...I'd kind of like him to understand what happened to me.

It was Rutherford. I haven't used it in a really long time though.

[He leans back and stares at the ceiling.]

I understand. I really wish I'd had the courage to tell my Mum. I don't think she'd have turned me away or anything..I was just afraid I guess.

I still believe pep rallies will be most thrilling!

You better believe they will be, especially with my music club headlining the entertainment!

That reminds me! I need to drop in some time!

Hmm...like I said at the bon fire, maybe drums. We'll see. Not everyone is easy to tell what instrument they'd play. I never thought I'd be playing guitar.

I think I would be most excellent at the drums! If I manage not to break them, of course. I do have an impressive arm!!
