I'm considering the possibility of moving to another school.
Maybe investing in a home tutor.
That was beyond all levels of what I expected to have to tolerate when I came here.

I suppose thinking of it as an early break does make it seem less of a waste of time.
I'm still very discontented with it.
As if Peeves was not enough of a distraction on his better days.
He's getting better at evading my hexes. Very inconvenient.

Peeves is a poltergeist. It's amazing you haven't come across him. He's taken a liking to getting in my way.

You don't 'talk' to something like Peeves.
It would be a waste of time and just give him opportunity to pull a painting down on your head.

How much do you know about poltergeists?

I'm afraid that I don't know much about them, I assumed that they are ghosts running around.

Is there anything different about them?

Poltergeists are a kind of ghost, but different. Peeves isn't like Nearly Headless Nick or the others. He was never alive.

At least, that's how I think it works...

It's more to do with the intent of the things. You don't see the Bloody Baron letting himself stoop to the kinds of pranks that Peeves puts himself up to. It's undignified.

Poltergeists are closer to being manifestations of malicious intent than ghosts in their own right, and they more markedly haunt a particular person, rather than a place. That part has always been a point of interest to me regarding Peeves. He may have been alive once, but his ghost took a different path to that of the others in the castle when he died, if that's the case.

This...sounds like it's starting to have a certain interest in you if that's the case. Although it's starting to sound really unpleasant.

I can handle Peeves. He makes for an interesting test subject.

He has a habit of getting in the way of my spells. Or other people's spells.

That sounds rather troublesome but...at least he's not hurt everytime he does get in the way.

How odd...I never seen seen a one like Peeves before so...I'm not too sure if they're suppose to react like that...
