Students of all years, I have some brief announcements for you.

First, I would like to belatedly welcome you back from your holidays. As much as I would dearly like to believe you've worked all of your ridiculousness out of your system in time for school, I doubt it such a thing could ever happen.

As it happens, I am now teaching all of the houses. Congratulations, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and I hope you haven't become accustomed to a different style of teaching.

I will allow some time to pass before I begin to assign work, if only because I would like to put some focus on the up coming dueling contest. If you've yet to sign up, I strongly suggest you do so. It's not often such an opportunity arises, after all.

Classes will now have some focus on dueling spells and techniques and we will be going over form and etiquette for some time.

For those of you brave enough to enter the tournament, I am unbiasedly extending an offer for extra lessons and assistance in your own time, if you are willing to do so. If only because I feel the need to encourage competitive spirit that is not limited to the Quidditch pitch.

If you have any questions, now is the time to ask them.
I will end this with the reminder that swearing is not accepted on the journals and doing so lowers your charisma and your house points dramatically. If you cannot refrain from doing so, I will happily filter charm you.

Their ability to cast offensive and defensive spells, obviously. If I don't think students are confident enough in their abilities there's no sense in pitting them against others.
