Whoever decided it would be a good idea to tie strings around every book in the library, I didn't find it very amusing. It made it incredibly difficult to manoeuvre with all those strings in the way!

And besides, that must have taken ages to accomplish. Wouldn't that time have been better spent reading the books than tying strings around them?

Inanimate objects can't really come alive as such. They can be enchanted to appear alive, but that isn't really the same thing. And in such cases, unless the spell is particularly powerful, they usually wear off fairly quickly.
