[She pushes the door open and steps in, smiling at him. In her arms she is carrying a rather thick potions book. Sticking out from it are many colorful tabs--though notable is that most of them seem to be in the back and a bunch are concentrated in one particular section. She closes the door behind her, and holds the book above her head.]

Potions. [She makes a face]

Ah. Potions. [He makes a face back at her. Potions was never his strongest subject but he can make an effort.] Pull up a chair and let's have a look.

[The Leijon-Vantas family study was less of a study and more of a general area where Sal shoved his books that wouldn't fit in the living room bookshelves, where they shoved older cat trees and occasionally where Art locked himself in when he visited to work on extra secret projects. The only reason they really called it a study was because it had a long mahogany desk, a wedding gift from Sal's parents built by his father.]

[Nepeta was very fond of this room. She always had been, but for decidedly different reasons now. When she was younger, she had loved to climb up on all the bookcases and pretend she was on top of the world. Since she was about eight, however, she had very much taken to all of her father's books.

She grabbed a chair and put in across from his. Potions was one of those subjects that was hit or miss for her. It became increasingly less appealing, however, when coupled with the fact that she couldn't actually brew any of the potions. She was still underage, after all, and a good number of them required the use of actual magic, so it ended up essentially just being a bunch of memorization. Add this, add that, stir three times COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Crush the roots in this very specific manner.

BLUH. She opened the book up to the first of three blue tabs she had marked and handed it to her father. The first potion was an antidote to common poisons]

Gotta memorize some of these.

[Ah, he can remember nearly having many a heart attack upon finding her on top of his bookcases. He was so glad when she finally outgrew that phase and actually read the books instead of climbing them.

He leaned over the book, skimming the directions and nodding slowly.] Simple enough. It's nice to see Professor Rhydderch is going easy on you this summer.

Easy maybe, but also boring. [She stuck her tongue out a bit.]

But I guess I can see why it's such an important one to learn. Especially fur people who want to be Healers, or even Aurors and Cursebreakers.

Just wait until sixth year. Then you get to make the fun potions. [He pulls open one of the many drawers of the desk and begins rummaging around for something.] And you're right. Antidotes are very, very important for all witches and wizards to know. You never know when you might need one- aha!

[He pulls out a small stack of index cards wrapped with a rubber band.] I've had these lying around for ages. How do potions flash cards sound?

[Two years is pretty much forever for her.]

Flash cards sounds great! [Much better than flipping back and forth through all the pages]

We gotta know the name, who furst created it, the ingredients, the steps, what it looks like and its effects. [Though in the case of this potion, its effects were pretty much given in the name.]

I was pretty young when we moved! It is a beautiful country! Lots of ice and snow and forests! AND MOOSE! Moose are pretty cool too! You strike me as the type who likes animals!

I am more observant than they say! A girl who loves animals is a girl who should be my friend! Animals are the spirits that guide us, afterall.
