There's no potion for Coca-Cola or airplanes. One's just a soft-drink that's damn sweet, and the other relies on engineering, it's a Muggle subject.

Um, I know what they are, duh, but you have to make them, right? Making drinks is just like making potions but tastier.

You can't make Cola the same way we make potions in class. There's all sorts of machines and flavourings involved with that stuff. It's not like you can just add a dash of dried Billywig stings to corn syrup.

That's what the assignment's about, learning how muggles do it! You're not being very helpful.

Look, I'm just saying it's not a very good example. There isn't a wizard substitute for the machines they use to make Coke. You could make an argument for the Billywig stings substituting the gas inside it, but the long and short of it is that carbon dioxide doesn't make you float if you get it in your system.

colas are basically made by adding carbonated water to syrups

planes fly by combusting benzine in a mechanical engine that makes propellers spin like in cars only in the air

I really don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's all muggle stuff. I mean, the ingredients are all on the bottle. I think the secret part is just how much of each thing you put in.

Muggles don't use potions. At least not the kind Wizards do, so nope. Airplanes all work off electricity and machines. Coca-cola's just a drink. Kinda like pumpkin juice, but fizzy... And a completely different taste. They have machines that make that, too.

It'd probably be easier to write about things that aren't so complex, but I can try and answer whatever you need to know.

Relax, I didn't mean to imply I think you're dumb. I'm not a pureblood, I don't know what the hell most of them even know about. I run into cultural differences all the damn time.

Well we're supposed to look up some muggle thing and find out how they make it, and then compare it to the wizarding version. How am I supposed to think of something if I don't know what counts as 'potion-like' or not?
