So i know this book of monsters is meant to have a bit of an attitude problem.
But the blasted thing has stolen my shoe.
I believe i can get it to abandon it by dangling my second one but i can only be in one place at one time.
So im not quite sure how to go from dangling the bait to retrieving my other shoe without losing something more important than the first shoe.
Any suggestions?
[For anyone in the Gryffindor boys' dorm, Jake has spent the last hour or so standing on his bed and trying various methods of reclaiming his lost shoe from under it with the vicious book. Naturally, he's warned any of his bunkmates of the danger, but that doesn't mean he's had any better luck getting the thing to relinquish his shoe.]

Would i get in trouble for using stupefy on a book?

Well i suppose if i get in trouble for trying to reclaim my shoe so that i may attend other lessons it is a cost i must pay.
Thank you for your help!
Though i do feel a bit bad for it.
If it werent for the malicious growling id assume it was just playing.

Well, when you get ahold of it, pet it on it's spine. That will calm it down.

I remember reading about that somewhere. Suppose once i get it in a position to not bite my fingers off ill give it a whirl.

Oh, and when you finally get ahold of it you might want to use a belt or something to bind it shut.

I cant have this happen again or ill be shoeless within a week.

First year gryffindor here.
Im regularly quite pleasantly surprised that the evil slytherin trope is in fact just a trope.

Haha..well, it's my first year here too so I don't get some of the steriotypes yet.

I never like to assume its all right to refer to a person familiarly when ive just met them.
Especially upperclassmen.
Ah well welcome to hogwarts then! I do hope the school is good to you.
There are a lot of stereotypes surrounding the various houses-- gryffindors are always exploited as brainless grunts with too much energy and slytherins are always the 'bad guys'.
Its a bit silly really.

Thanks. I like it here a lot so far. Everyone I've met so far has been pretty cool. I don't even really think about them in relation to their Houses really!

Thats good!
A refreshing sort of outlook.

I've learned that you can't ever judge someone by appearances or where a person comes from.

Thats a wonderful thing to learn.
