Do you have a minute?
[Understatement. He'll need more than a minute]
I need a word.

[There might've been the teensiest of delays for this reply. And does his quill strokes look harsher than normal?]
Filtered
I might have agreed to date Alfred.
And I might now be unsure as to whether I did the right thing.
Filtered
Maybe we should talk about this in person. It'd be nice to actually be informed face-to-face that your friend's gone and gotten himself into a relationship instead of learning it second-hand from the grape vine.
Filtered
You know I'm bad at that as much as I'd like to extend the courtesy.
So just let me write what I need to say and then I'll come and meet up with you and you can punch me or whatever it is you want to do.
Filtered
[There's a small ink dot growing on the paper, as Greg's quill remains rooted to the spot as he tries to think about what to write back.]
What's wrong then?
Filtered
[There's a pause, and a couple of drops fall onto the page]
It was really strange. We were arguing, and then we
kiweren't and I can't help but think that all of this has something to do with all the odd things that were happening last week. I know that under normal circumstances I would have just walked away... but I didn't.The next thing I know he's asking me out and I said yes, because, I guess I do like him even though he's an utter arse.. He has been trying and I suppose he's won me over.
I know. I'm an idiot. We don't need to clarify that.
But now I'm not sure and that's why I've not been crowing about it like he has. I should have told you, and Victoria, and I don't know what stopped me.
I'm sorry, Greg.
Filtered
He sucks his cheeks in and lets out a heavy sigh, before he starts his response.]
Well that week was pretty strange, based on what I've been hearing. People dying, coming back to life, men changing into women and all that sort of stuff.
You said you liked him. I don't see why you're not sure then.
Filtered
It's so bloody stupid. I'd love to be perfectly content about this, I really would, but then I think back on all the idiotic things he's done and I wonder if it's not too soon for this kind of thing.
Filtered
Well how long has he been nice to you? Since the Olympics? Honestly I think you jumped from being his target to being his boyfriend in record time.
Filtered
It's been longer than that. Maybe a year or more.
I was ignoring it.
Filtered
Filtered
Honestly?
Probably a few months.
Filtered
Well if you like him, and he likes you, then I don't see what's the problem. If he's "changed" and you think it's all sorted out between the two of you, then nothing's wrong.
Unless you think it was just the strange things happening in the castle that had you jump the gun with him.
Filtered
Yes I'm quite sure the strange things happening had everything to do with why I jumped the gun, as you say.
But that isn't to say I didn't like it.
Er.
If you'd still like to speak face to face I think I can manage it without making too much of a fool of myself.
Filtered
Look, if it was the castle, then my advice is to wait things out a little. It was a hasty decision, you admit it, and even if you liked it you still need to really think it through properly, whether you're still going to be this happy in a relationship with Alfred in the future, whether it can last.
[Right now, he's...not too sure. The anger he felt was still there, but it had cooled down and instead there's hesitation, doubt and awkwardness filling in the gaps.]
It's up to you really. But I promise I won't deck you across the face.
Filtered
[There's a pause while he taps his quill against the page]
Well, if you promise. Where's a good place?
Filtered
Quidditch field? I doubt anyone will be there at this time of the day.
Filtered
I'll see you there.

You've got yourself in a downright mess, Arthur.

You might be exaggerating a little, there. It could be worse.

I don't fancy being in your shoes, at the very least.
no subject
I'm not going to do that.. but I'll be having words with him. I've been in more difficult situations, I'll say that much.
