Dear Professor Coulson,

I understand that the Ministry has declared that there was no evidence of dark magic during the incident at summer camp, but I was wondering if that meant that all investigations have been concluded. I realize you have probably been quite occupied lately and that you may not know exactly what the status of the related investigations might be, but if you do learn anything about what might have happened, I would appreciate it if you would let me know as it is very relevant to my interests.

I'm very sorry for having missed the Medical Science and Magic Society's first meeting as I was very much looking forward to it. However, I am no longer having to serve detention, so I'll now be able to attend meetings on a regular basis and am eagerly anticipating seeing all of you in the near future!

According to Professor Snow, yes, the investigations have been concluded and the case has been closed by the Ministry. While the both of us may disagree on what exactly happened that night, he and the Ministry are entitled to their own opinions and you and I to ours.

With all due respect, Professor Coulson, do you meant to say that you don't personally think that the Ministry came to the right conclusion?

There isn't a precedent to this case, but I believe the matter required more thorough research and a second opinion.

I am inclined to agree with you, especially given the seriousness of this particular case. Additionally, if the incident was caused by dark magic and it was left un-investigated, one would have reason to believe that it might happen again.

The matter is unfortunately out of our hands for now. I would also advice that you do not bring it up again, especially in the presence of Inquisitor Snow.

Thank-you very much for your advice, Professor Coulson. I will follow it to the best of my ability. [inkblot] However, I'm not sure of why we're not meant to be discussing it anymore as it was a very unusual event that affected quite a few of us.

And speaking hypothetically, what do you think would happen if that particular incident were to repeat itself?

The Inquisitor believes that discussing what happened is a way for students to validate what, he thinks, is just teenagers misbehaving. He is a man who believes in discipline and respect, especially among the younger wizards and witches. Questioning his decisions, to him, is more a mark of disobedience than an offer for a forum for discussion.

If it happened again, then there might be cause for the case to be reopened and re-examined.

I suppose that would stand to reason, but as far as the incident itself is concerned, do you think one would have reason to worry about the possibility of escalation?

Would you happen to know if the Ministry took many first hand accounts of the incident into consideration while they were investigating?

Would you like to come to my office Mr Kishitani? It might be better for me to answer all your questions face-to-face, rather than just through the journals.

[And sure enough, as soon as classes get out, Shinra makes his way over to Professor Coulson's office as quickly as he can. He pauses momentarily in front of the door before knocking politely.]

[A voice calls out from within the room.]

Come in!

[When Shinra enters, he'll find Coulson just about finished with clearing up his desk for the evening. He nods and smiles at the Ravenclaw.]

Good evening Mr Kishitani, have a seat.

[He gestures to a chair in front of the desk as he settles in into the opposite chair himself.]

Thank-you, Professor Coulson.

[Shinra smiles back before bowing his head respectfully and moving to perch on the chair in front of Coulson's desk.]

And thank-you for offering to see me on such short notice.

[He briefly glances at the door before turning his gaze back to the professor.]

Out of curiosity, would I be allowed to speak freely here?

For this particular topic, yes, though I would also appreciate your discretion as well. I'd prefer if you keep what we discuss private; the incident at camp was quite hurtful to many of your class mates. Please understand that not many would want to bring it up again unless asked first.

[He keeps his gaze fixed on Professir Coulson as he offers him a tentative nod.]

I would have assumed that having an understanding of exactly what happened to us would make the incident much less hurtful, but I can and will be discreet if that's what you require.

People need time to get over painful moments in their lives, but the time needed is different for everyone. Knowing why it happened doesn't necessarily help settle people's emotions.

[He knows this all too well.]

So, to get back to your questions over the journal. I'm not a 100% sure about the nature of the spell; I can tell you it was very old Dark Magic, perhaps even a hex that might not even be known to today's wizards. I haven't seen any students with lasting side-effects, so I don't think escalation is something you should worry about.

The British Ministry's methods of investigation is unfamiliar to me, unfortunately, but if it's anything alike to the American system, then I would say that an interview would've been carried out with some of the eye-witnesses. Maybe not the students, given that a minor's testimony requires a guardian's consent. I think most parents would rather not have their children speak about it as well. If the Ministry were to ask questions, it would be to the counsellors.

Thank-you very much for your concern, Peixes! He's been well for a few days now and I did give him a cursory examination, so I think I can safely say that he's made a full recovering.

I undrstand entirely. In fact, I almost feel the same way about Zazzerpan. They did seem to talk a lot, didn't they? I wonder if on some level, they knew that they would only be able to talk for a limited time, so they tried to say as much as possible while they had the opportunity.

And as a result, I did learn quite a lot about Zazzerpan! Principally that he's very inquisitive and impulsive.

Well, I was hoping to get an actual human cadaver, but it seems there might be some difficulty in obtaining one of those, so some sort of animal specimen instead, I suppose. But I'd also like to ask one of the nurses to give a lecture on traumatic injury and emergency medicine.

I am glad Zazzerpan is OK. Garry was worried about him too!

Yes. He is a very cute and caring goat. We could talk together and it was very fun. However I still have to take him out for exercise but we both decided not to use a leash. He has promised not to run away too, so it will be a good time for us.

I will be sure to pass that on. Although I'm not sure Zazzerpan is still able to understand me. Either way, I'm very relieved to hear that he does like me. I was beginning to worry that he didn't and that his dislike was the cause of his incessant bleating. In retrospect, he may just be an exceptionally talkative goat.

I'm sure you will! I can't speak for everyone in the club, but I do know that Herbert West knows quite a lot about anatomy and the healing arts.

And I suppose my detention wasn't very bad, as far as detentions are concerned. It was really more redundant than anything, but I am very glad that it's over.

Garry said Zazzerpan talks a lot to him too, so he is just a chatter-box. Garry also said he can't really understand what Zazzerpan is saying either, even if they are both speaking in goat language, but I think that is because Garry is just a baby goat.

Really? I didn't think animals would have to pick up languages the same way we do, but now that I'm thinking on it, there's no reason why that shouldn't be the case. Did Garry have any difficulties with comprehension when he was speaking English? Or were his comprehension skills temporarily heightened?

You will! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you're able to master the process with in a few months as it is relatively simple, or it can be, depending on what sort of fracture you're trying to heal.

He probably spent most of his life around British people, so I suppose his accent stands to reason. In fact, I'd be surprised if his accent were any different.

I don't really have much firsthand experience as far as healing is concerned, but I have learned quite a lot from what I've read and what I've observed and I would be more than happy to teach you everything I know.

He sounds very cute. I wish you could've heard him. I think he had a goat accent too because sometimes when he used words he would ~~baaaa~~ ~~pull~~ drag them too. Like a sheep that goes "baaa baaa".
