[He walks in a little hesitantly, but with a small smile.]

You gonna tell my dad?

Why would I? It's just a little tear in your robes. Nothing to be concerned about. [He sets down the plate of cookies on his desk and pulls out a chair.] Now have a seat and let's fix up that hole before it can get any bigger.

[There's a faint shake of his head. He doesn't mean that. He means that he fell.

Do you think I should tell him?

[He's halfway to sitting, but he stands up again, and presses one hand to the side of his head as the quickness of it makes his mind spin.]

Hey, hey, shoosh. [Sal lays a careful hand on his shoulder.] I won't tell him if you don't want me to. But I do feel like we should do something about your falling. No one wants you getting hurt.

[His eyes snap to the hand on his shoulder, but he doesn't cringe from it.]

... I can't help it. Thometimeth I just slip.

I know. [Sal gestures for him to sit down again and begins rummaging through his desk while he talks, hunting for the elusive needle and spool in a sea of papers in need of grading and tuffs of cat fur.] Maybe we could get you some Quidditch padding? That way if you fall again you won't get scraped up at least.

Maybe you could ask Latula if she has any spare- Found it! [He straightens up, proudly holding a needle and a spool of thick black thread in his hand.] Any spare gear that might fit you.

[He rubs his head, sitting down and slouching somewhat in the chair.]

[Uh oh.]

Okay, you don't need it. [He pulls his chair over to sit directly across from Mituna, his expression clearly betraying how badly he feels for upsetting him.] I'm sorry I suggested it and upset you.

[Mituna tugs lightly on his hair, making a frustrated sound, but when he looks up and meets Sal's gaze, his expression blanks. He blinks once, then lowers his eyes and speaks quietly.]

Is it really? It's okay to be upset with me, I shouldn't have made assumptions.

It's ok it's ok.

[He straightens up in the chair, as if to reassure him that it's fine, and turns a little bit so Sal can get at the rip in his robes.]

[He wants to push it, just so Mituna knows he won't be angry if he's upset with him but he doesn't. It would more than likely do more harm than good.]

Alright. [He's quiet as he threads the needle, ties it off and begins carefully mending the tear.]

[It definitely would, and it's a wise decision by Sal not to push it and risk upsetting him further, particularly as there's a good chance that in ten minutes he won't even remember that he almost snapped.

He stays remarkably still while the rip is being mended, eyes fixed and slightly unfocused on the wall across from him.]

...The macaroons are still up for grabs if you want one. I just made them this morning.

[He perks up slightly, looking over to Sal with a crooked smile.]

I want one.

[Pause..]

[Sal pulls away from his work, giving him a smile. He leans back in his chair and reaches around to pluck a cookie from the plate and hands it over.]

Let me know how they are.

[helmetdoesnothing]

[He takes it, examines it closely with the curiosity of a child half his age, then takes a bite. It meets with instant approval and a small 'mm' sound.]

'S good.

[A twinge of pride creeps into Sal's smile and he goes back to sew the last few stitches then severs the remaining thread with his teeth.]

And done. Good as new.

[He's thoroughly distracted by the macaroon, and mumbles around a mouthful.]

You're welcome, 'Tu. [With a quick ruffle of Mituna's unruly hair, he stands up and goes back to rummaging through his desk.] Now, let's see if I can find that ink well you came here for.

[Making a vague, out-of-habit attempt at straightening his hair out again he watches Sal rummage in his desk. Oh, right, the ink.]

Can I really write in yellow for your clath?

Of course you can. It'd be awfully hypocritical of me if I didn't let my students use colored ink when I use red for everything.
