Good afternoon students, and may I introduce myself. You may call me Professor Sekret, or simply Professor. Fellow staff members may know me as Charlotte. I've recently returned to take over the divination classes, so I suppose I will only see a select few of you. Those who show interest in the craft.

Now, I'm not sure what most of you would expect from a divination teacher, 8ut if you expect to 8e slacking off in my class, or that it'll 8e an easy way to get marks you'll 8e sorely mistaken.

The art of divination is an ancient art, and one to 8e respected. In our classes we'll 8e studying the history 8ehind it, as well as many various forms. It will not all 8e guessing the meaning 8ehind 8lotches of tea leaves in cups, or making up little dreams that you think will fool me. I expect work and I expect the 8est. You may not think you have the skill, or you may, 8ut either way this will not 8e a class you can coast through.

If you think you cannot meet these standards than don't even 8other attending. I won't waste my time on idiots.

Of course we will, they merely won't 8e an entire focus like many are fond of making them. They have their place and time in the entire study of prophecy.
Miraculous as it may 8e I am terri8ly fond of giving my students a challenge and seeing if they can rise to it.

Mmm, my nurses suggested I try something a little more... calmer for a time, while I'm regaining my old strength.

And Dum8ledore asked so nicely, how could I refuse him.

I did. Gracefully. It's been almost a year, I hadn't expected you'd even be alive.

Of course. I am sure all of those things are true and that you haven't come here out of a want to make me miserable.

I don't die or give up easily. You of all people should know that.

And that was merely an added 8onus. The cherry on top so to speak.

And yet here you are. Teaching at a school. Seems as if you've given up to me.

Of course it was, I shall have to warn everyone about you.

Perhaps I will find my true calling here. Educ8ing young and fresh minds, helping the new gener8ion 8ecome strong and ready.

Me? 8ut darling this face is an innocent one. I've given up my old games, I swear.

It is a surprisingly fulfilling with at least half the amount of injuries. I only worry how exactly you'll be educating.

I can handle injuries darling. I am such a quick healer after all. And I dou8t any injury will 8e more then I can handle. As for that last 8it I have no idea what you mean.

Well then, when would you like to see it?

I am aware. That would be why the last bit was the most important bit.

If you do it on request you could easily be putting on a show for the sake of fooling me.

Care to explain yourself darling, or are you happy to 8a88le away and make little to no sense to all?> Goodness, classes must 8e difficult for you to teach.

Such conspiracies! Next you'll 8e claiming He Who Shall Not 8e Named wasn't actually killed at all, and is... oh I don't know, vacationing in Europe.

You're a clever girl, I'm sure you'll figure it out. My students seem to, at least.

I believe the chances of that happening are considerably more outlandish than the possibility that you're up to no good.

How flattering. Well I suppose if you only want to play cryptic with me, there is no real point to this convers8ion.

I'm so very excited for a competent Divination teacher.

I look forward to your classes! So many people treat divination as a joke.

Oh I understand that. I was lucky enough to have a highly competent teacher myself, though that was 8alanced with ignorant students.
8ut I'm sure it'll 8e a pleasure to 8e instructing you Miss ?

Most students seem to take it just for the sake of it. They do not think of why it's such a valuable branch in magic!

Rose Lalonde. Slytherin fourth year, Professor Serket.

Oh it was the same in my schooling years. It was seen as a non su8ject 8y those uneduc8ed who thought they could simply make everything up. They were quickly proved wrong, thankfully.

Ah, a Slytherin. I suppose I should withhold from showing favouritism to meme8ers of my old house, 8ut really it makes sense to have a smart thinker there. A pleasure, Miss Lalonde.

I would not call it favouritism, professor. It isn't your fault that not all students are quite as ambitious as those in the House of Slytherin.
I also am quite an advocate the this specific branch of magic. I intend to continue taking courses in this subject matter through the rest of my years in Hogwarts.

Yes, we are all quite an efficent, successful 8unch. It can 8e more then o8vious why we are often the very 8est.
Ah excellent. Please, feel free to come and see me outside of class. I'd 8e more then interested in helping such a curious student find her strengths and improve her weaker areas. And after gradu8ion there's a few paths you can take to continue you.

I look forward to taking you up on that offer! I wish to continue my studies until there are no such thing as weaker areas. [She has people to impress, after all.]

I have yet to really decide what I wish to pursue after graduation, but I know that I want to continue delving into this subject.

Very admira8le. It seems the hat was more then correct in what house it placed you in. I respect you'll 8e a more then satisfactory student Miss Lalonde.

Well, there are areas, asides from teaching where divin8ion talents are more then useful. And they are often looking for those with the right skills to join them. 8ut perhaps we'll save that sort of convers8ion for later.

I would have been devastated to be put into any other House but Slytherin, Professor Serket.

Oh yes! I've been researching on what the outside world has to offer for those that have strong connections in the divination realm, but I can rest easy that I still have a few years left to decide where my career path will go.

Oh I could see you fitting in easily with the Ravenclaws. They're essentially the closest second the Slytherin when you consider it. And seeing how my eldest is one of them, I must say they're not all horrid.
Though perhaps that is 8ias speaking.

Ah yes, you do have time. And you should enjoy it, once you gradu8 the world 8ecomes a lot more trou8lesome at times. Enjoy your youth darling, even as you plan ahead.

I think Ravenclaws are quite enjoyable, yes. Even so, I don't think I would have wanted to go into any other House but the one I am in. I read up a lot on Hogwarts.

I am enjoying it quite well. But time does seem to have a nasty habit of flying by so quickly without us realizing.

Ah how studious. Your mother wasn't a student here was she though? I suppose that would result in a certain amount of interest developing 8efore your arrival.

Oh it truly does. 8ut the memories can still remain. Though the age of time does tend to leave them coated more sweet then they once were. I suppose we forget the pettier emotions.

Oui, you are correct. My mother did not attend Hogwarts. I was not interested in attending the school she went through though.

One doesn't usually want to dwell on negative things. It makes life so much more dreary otherwise.

8eux8atons I assume? Mm, yes it definitely does seem to 8e something one must have an acquired taste for. I found Hogwarts much more intriguing as well.

Such a clever girl. You will 8e a treasure to have in the class.

Yes. My mother was a very promising student there, if her success is not a rather accurate indication. I wanted to steer towards a separate path from her, and so I felt like following her schooling would not give me the desired results.

Oh I have met her 8efore. A few times in fact. Though I can easily see why a daughter would prefer to do that. 8est to live our own lives, even if that is a radical thought for a pure8lood.

Mother and I never completely fit the norm. That would be striving too low for what we can accomplish. Why settle for something like normalcy when we can achieve excellency?

Honestly, who of us really do? And those who wish they did are 8oring wastes of space and air. It is 8etter to 8e as you say, excellent.

You're quite the intelligent young girl Miss Lalonde. There are few who can see the world like this at such a young age.

The harsh realities make me wish for something better.
I have something to show for and I don't intend to let predisposition to put me at a lesser rank because people cannot see passed the surface.
