By no small measure of effort I seem to have been awarded the title of Slytherin Head of House. The timing is incredibly fitting, given that I'll have been teaching here for almost an entire year now. Who new that such honourable promotions would come so quickly, I had no idea I was considered a good fit for it.
[Which is to say he knew all along and he's been waiting for this to happen.]
As such, if any Slytherins are in need of advice or assistance, whether it be academic or not, are free to visit my office within reasonable hours. Any questions?


Ah. I suppose I should also give thanks to anyone who attended my birthday celebrations it february, I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Of course, that does not excuse anyone from their studies. Students of all classes should keep in mind that we will be focusing strictly on practicals this week. I would suggest you go over your previous months reading before attending or you may be surprised yourself upon entering the room, We will have an array of live subjects so I ask that you not only bring the necessary supplies but that you also bring your brains and make sure they're functioning for once in your lives. Mischief will not be tolerated when our classes are under the scrutiny of live magical creatures.

I believe one must merely continue to do what he is already doing. After all, you can never go wrong if you're Slytherin.

I have very capable professors teaching me the knowledge I hold now.

How flattering to hear. I'm sure you've made many professors happy with such an attitude.

I came here to learn. Others may dilly dally about and have their fun, but I slacking was never my intention.
I'm glad to be a hardworking student worthy of the teachings I am given.

I shouldn't be surprised, I expect nothing less from you. The amount of people who flunder about until the last possible moment is astounding.

Procrastination is quite the devil and hard to shake off. It's too bad that it really is just an excuse to admit that one is fairly lazy and there is really no excuse for that.

I've heard there are many ways of dealing with it, though of course researching and applying them would take more effort than many are willing to put in.

...Perhaps I should assign that for homework.

I'm sure the results would have you relatively disappointed in the end.

I don't think it's possible to be any more disappointed than I already am by the vast majority of my students.

I would be careful what you say. I know for a fact that my fellow peers has an uncanny way of making the impossible possible. I've witnessed myself and it's rather appalling to say the least.

I can't say I'd object to them taking sour words as a form of motivation. Even if it leaves them with a sour opinion of me.

Such is the life of a professor.

I can't imagine them using it as motivation to better themselves. More so, they would take it to be lazier.
The irony of reverse psychology.

Fortunately there are few students talented enough to pull together a passing grade after a year of slacking.

Yet many seem to somehow scrape by still. What a world we live in.

Today we know them as slackers, in the future we shall know them as groundskeepers and cleaners.

I'm glad I never have to worry of such a career path. That sounds so dreadful.

I can't say for sure, but I imagine it would be. I can say with absolute certainty that it's not something you'll ever have to worry about.

It would be a fate that would be forced upon me as divine punishment.

But then we'd have to watch the world burn as I retaliate, so perhaps it's for the best.

It's a fate you'll become accustomed to in time. I'm sure you have enough Strider in you to see the humor in it and live a life unencumbered with bitterness.

Ah yes, I probably do.
But that would also be denying the more cynical part that I keep under my bed.

Everybody has a cynical side. Some more than others, as I'm sure you know.

I am very aware.
It seems to be a rather common trait for those in the House of Slytherin more so than the others, I've found.

Of course, there is a great benefit to being realistic as opposed to unwaveringly optimistic.

Those with unmoving optimism are very interesting though. At least from an observational point of view.
