[Keith does not reply for a little while, for two reasons.

The first is because he had no idea that the journals could make noise. He wasn't paying much attention to the guy who gave it to him.

The second is because that.. that is undeniably Ellis' voice, and he doesn't know why it just came out of his journal. Most of him doesn't understand his reaction. He's dropped the book and moved a few feet away, staring at it like it's about to jump up and bite him. Maybe it will? Again, he wasn't listening.

But that's Ellis' voice. Ellis, his best friend, the one person he'd been hating the thought of lying to about being here despite knowing he had to, but he's already here? Despite what little he knows of the laws on secrecy - he'd listened to that part, they'd made sure he had - he can't help the brief flash of hurt anger that curls up in his stomach and clenches his throat and sets a lump of uncomfortable nausea between them.

But then he's shaken it off, and he's bouncing across his bed to pick the journal up again, fumbling around with it to figure out how to make it do that voice thing before he shouts excitedly back.]

Ellis! Best dream ever if you are, right?! Pinch yourself.

[He must be dreaming. It's totally a dream. He never thought this could be possible at all! Leaving Keith was always the hardest part about going to Hogwarts. He hated having to lie to him, but the statute of secrecy was serious business, and he didn't want to get expelled or put his family in danger or anything.

Ellis never once thought Keith could be a wizard!

He doesn't feel angry at all, though that might be because he's just naturally an excited spazz. All he sees is the positivity here. And boy is this amazing. His best friend is here! At Hogwarts! Unless this is a dream, anyway.

If it's a dream, he ain't gonna wake up any time soon.]

And...Ya caught me, yeah it is! And I'm in Gryffindor tower. Where are you?

[There's a long pause at this point.]

Gryffindor tower. Holy fuckin' shit!

Whoa! Really? Where at! How come I don't see ya? Meet me by the fireplace!

[And that's where he's gonna head right now, faster than his legs have ever taken him before.]

[Keith leaves the journal where it is and half runs, half slides (almost falls) down the stairs from the six year boy's dorms.

When he gets to the bottom he all but launches himself across the room and tackles Ellis, slinging both arms around his shoulders.]

[Ellis stumbles forward a bit with a 'whoa!' but manages to keep himself upright. He lets out a laugh, breaking into a huge grin, arms coming up to wrap tightly around Keith.]

Damn son, it's been a while!

I know, right! When I said I'd see you over here I meant the summer!
