This is perhaps the strangest hallucination I have ever experienced. Tactile is not generally a component nor do I tend to believe I've lived two different childhoods. Can't be H.O.U.N.D. and I haven't used. Lucid dreaming, perhaps? Most likely though in that case I have rather lost control. Very odd indeed, but then I do seem to harbor the belief that this book will populate itself with responses and that I'm at a school for learning magic. It hardly does to only call one thing odd when so much is absolutely ridiculous. But I believe it. That shouldn't be possible.

I'll have to consider carefully how to move forward from here. I'm not sure how but it could be Moriarty. Makes as much sense as anything.

A bit, yeah. Nothing like almost getting eaten by a mangy giant rat to really work up an appetite.

[He holds up his hands, now reddish-black with the dried blood.]

Think we ought to do a little washing-up first, though.

As you wish. Not exactly much to change into but we'll manage. We usually do.

[The torch goes out but it's not such a bad journey in the dark. The town is lit and the stars are out. Sherlock tosses the stick away and just walks with his hands in his pockets.]

We might get odd looks from the clothes, but the blood thing is definitely a bit too much of an attention-grabber. Yet another reason why it's a shame there's no takeout in Hogsmeade.

But you're right, we'll manage. Even if our only clothes are-

[A terrible realization dawns on John.]

Oh God, these were the only clothes this body came with. It's this or we try to see if our robes fit for as long as our bodies are stuck like this.

I'll buy us clothes tomorrow. There's a boutique in town. It'll have to wait till then unless you know someone with magic still who can fashion us clean, mended clothing.

I'm sure there are students or staff who have retained their magic, but then the problem becomes explaining... [He gestures vaguely at their tears and scrapes.] ... how all that happened. Which I'm not terribly keen to do.

I think I'll have to take you up on the clothing offer. Unfortunately, I don't think this body's grown any taller than I normally am. So my clothes might fit, but I don't really like the idea that they might vanish off to God knows where when I get my body back.

[Trying not to smirk. Failing.]

Normally I'd say you're a decent height for most women but, well, I'm six inches taller than you. Don't really think they make heels for men. Not outside drag circuits, anyway.

[John doesn't even try not to scowl.]

Yeah, saying I'm a decent height for a woman might mean something if I were, y'know, a woman. And just keep on rubbing in how tall and cool you've grown to look, thanks. If all that was your attempt at consolation, you're unbelievably crap at it.

... no, wait, this is you we're talking about. You're all-too-believably crap at it.

That wasn't exactly the comparison I was going for but I suppose I'll thank you for the mental image. I should have specified that you're the right height for women were you interested in dating one. Less neck bending.

And again, not all that helpful. I don't think the odds of me dating a girl anytime soon are too high.

Well, your odds of dating a man are much improved. I'm sure you're dying to write home to your mother with the good news.

I don't know if the fact that they've already gone through something similar with Harry will make that situation better or worse.

You'd actually be interested in trying to win them over?

Keep in mind my family doesn't have any sentient paintings of obnoxious dead relatives for you to scandalize.

I'm always interested in impressing people. I'm a show off. It's one of the few things you can expect me to do without asking.
3houseswatson: (BBC - So uh. How you doin'.)

[personal profile] 3houseswatson 2013-04-28 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
See, while all that's true, there's still a little flaw. A lot of your showing off involves ratting off deductions about peoples' deepest darkest secrets or private lives, and not everybody finds that impressive.
not_a_hero: (Nope! My way.)

[John shakes his head, but there's a little smile on his face regardless.]

That may be true, but you can't really be surprised if shouting someone's scandals and secrets blows up in your face a little. Or a whole hell of a lot. Probably mostly the latter. Especially if you were to do something like that at the soonest gathering of my family you might find yourself at.

Yeah. The wedding. [He laughs a bit awkwardly and rubs the back of his head.] Though maybe I should ask if you want to go to it as more than a friend when you're less busy... being two people at once.

Assuming you'd like to go at all, I mean.
