Today was another self realised lesson that I should stop going into book stores alone.

If it wasn't bad enough I missed out on the sorting ceremony on the first night, due to finding myself in Flourish and Blotts. I get back to my room to realise not only have I realised that I have spent all my day off in Tomes and Scrolls, but I have spent far much more money than I intended. I had only intended to pick up a charms book I ordered.

I suppose however I can't be all that upset, I did find some fantastic reading materials. Which means when I don't have to grade papers, I will be most pre-occupied.

Maybe you wouldn't need a chaperone if you could show more restraint, hm?

And yet some of us can still restrain ourselves when it comes to indulging in them.

Loving books is hardly alcoholism. And it is hardly like any of the students will be getting their small hands on any of them. So they aren't going to hurt anything, either.

And like the potions master said, there are libraries. The one here is quite expansive, even.

Hardly a new invention.

And I go to libraries, mostly to look for books that I could order that I don't have.

A few biographies, revised editions of "charms for around the home" series, and a muggle book about Merlin. Thought that would be a good laugh.

You write that like I have any intention of actually letting the students near my private collection.

And this library as been the cause of many fantastic purchase I have made since coming here.

I've heard worse reasons to skip the opening ceremony.

Honestly. You didn't miss much. I'm almost regrettin' showin' up myself.

Whether I missed anything or not isn't the issue here. A Hogwarts professor should always be in attendance for such things. It sets a poor example to the students and makes them think that you aren't a teacher worth paying attention too.

Students have been known to care less over "private". After all, they're still young.

Why purchase something you can already read freely?

I know that feeling all too well. I suppose I'm lucky in that I'm always on a limited budget and have to make my purchases wisely.

Considering his need to meddle in muggle affairs, I've never found that part all that remarkable.

It's his interactions with King Arthur I find most interesting from their point of view.

I'll have you know, apart from that slip up, I have an impecable record for puncuality.

So much so I was used as an example while working within the ministry.

However, one should try their best not to let themselves get lost in their hobbies at the expense of their obligations.

I will admit, it is moments like these I very much would prefer to have a lack luster budget.

When it comes to books I've always been such a frivolous spender. I can never say no to having another book for my collection.

It would be rather unwise of them to try.

Because, once I have the book I can read it as many times as I like without having to worry about someone else having it when I wish to read it.
