Oh. Yeah, it's muggle music. Sorry, I forget that not everyone here knows it. [He's only a little disappointed though, there are still a whole bunch of other songs out there!] Um, I dunno much about wizard music, though. But, if there's somefing you wanna play, I'm sure I can catch on.

Oh! Well...hmm...there's not much in the way of wizard music that I actually like. I mostly just make my own silly songs.

I'd be more than happy to learn it if that's something you want to do. I find Muggle music fascinating!

Yeah, we're gonna be a real band! I don't have any of my syth stuff here, though, so that kind of makes it hard, but it's okay. We'll catch up over the summer hols, right?

Synthesizers! They're like... like a piano, see? Only, they have all these buttons, an-and they make all sorts of wicked sounds! Like whizzes and shit. Beeps and bloops and hums, see? They're electronic, so they don't work here at Hogwarts, but they're really very rad. Very muggle.

[There's a pause, then-] OH! Ohohoh! I have, I have records, see? My favorite band, they're called- they're called the Human League, see? And they've got a synth, so I can show you how it sounds, right now, if you like!

They sound amazing! Mother would never let me have anything like that in the house, especially since she disapproves of my guitar in the first place. She says I should have picked piano if I was going to choose a musical career.

Ooh, you're right! Records work here since gramophones don't run on eklecity, don't they?

Yeah! Like that! [So just hold on while 2D gets the one he pilfered from the school and sets it up. There are probably more bangs and thuds then there ought to be, but nothing gets broken, and soon The Human League starts to play] Yeah, guitars are cool and all, but I think this is more fun, 'ey? They just got so many different sounds to mix togevver and stuff. But it is kind of like playing a piano, so she might like it, sort of?

Mother rarely approves of anything.

[If you heard his voice lower in disappointment, that's just your imagination. And he leaves it at that as the music starts playing through the journals. By about midway through the song, he's just kind of rocking side to side in his seat, head nodding.]

Oh Merlin, this music is beautiful!

[Not that he knows anything about purebloods and family pressure. But he doesn't think anyone should stop anyone from liking the things that they like. It doesn't hurt anybody, does it?]

Yeah, it's really somefing, ey? I got a lot more back home, on me computer, and stuff wot we've worked on, I'll show you. [He smiles to himself as the record transitions into the next song] I grew up lissening to this, wif my mum and my da, I could sit here wif it all night.

Oh man. Muggles have it so good. Nothing sounds like this in wizard music!

Someday, they might. Murdoc wants to bring the two musical worlds togevver, so it could be soon! Maybe sooner, if someone really clever wos to, ehn... figger out how to like... store electricity in a magical way, or somefing like that. So we could play it here, at Hogwarts, wifout, you know, whatever magic is keeping stuff from working here.

I'm an inventor! If I can close the gap between the Muggle and Wizarding worlds by making something that can generate eklecity, then we can have amazing things like this music and...and everything else!
