[Dirk has glanced from his homework to the journal his uncle got him for over an hour now. Writing something in there sounded like a lot more fun than trying to catch up on assignments after missing so much school. He hasn't a clue of what to say, so he just rolls with the first thing that comes to mind.]
I can't wait for the school year to end.
It's getting ridiculously difficult to keep up with all of my assignments, especially knowing that in September, I start at Hogwarts.
Regular school work is boring in comparison to the idea of learning magic.
Plus, summer will be awesome for reasons.

Sometimes kids start earlier depending upon their birthdays or if their parents want them to take a pre-k course.
They're pretty boring on account of them being too easy. Every year we study English, math, science, and history.
There's also extra classes like art, music, and gym.

And I don't think we have anything like English, or art classes here. What sorts of things do you study?

We learn a lot of grammar and practice writing in English.
In art class we can make our own stuff and we learn a little about famous artists.

But it does sound practical. You'll probably have a better understanding of grammar than most of us!

I would hope not.
I'd rather hope that an older student has a better command of it than me.
