So! Before I actually get into some important things, is everyone ready for Quidditch season? And I don't just mean the school, I mean all over the place. I know probably a lot of you like your silly little English teams, but there's a lot better teams out there than them. Like, say, the Vratsa Vultures for their amazing pioneering of the long goal and being so kind to give newbies a chance to prove themselves in the big leagues or you could go for the Grodzik Goblins who had the amazing Josef Wronski that all of you seekers can thank for inventing the Wronski Feint.

But, hey, who am I to tell you who to cheer for? Though I have to say we're going to have some problems if you're on the International scene for Germany or England, not that they could compare to Bulgaria. Or a fan of the Heidelberg Harriers, Gorodok Gargoyles, or Quiberon Quafflepunchers. ... If you like that last one, you seriously need to get a better sense of taste and learn what real Quidditch is about. Wearing bright pink uniforms and acting like ballerinas on the pitch is just an insult to the game, you know.

Onto some real business while I've got some time. Has anyone possibly seen my cat Edit around lately? I haven't seen her in a few days and she's not the type to stay out for so long and not come back to me for at least some food or something. She's a female Siamese and should be wearing a red, white, and green collar with a little cross and bell on it. Any information is highly appreciated.

You say that as if there's something I could have done to stop it. Other than possibly giving him a mate at home. Clearly there are suggestive overtones in your dressage choreography. Maestro was just doing the routine as planned. There's no need for the extra hip swaying and eyelash batting, or whatever the equine equivalent is. I think you need to keep her in line.

Oh come on now, how is being interested in Quidditch like that horrifying? It's not like it's any different than, say, your being interested in whatever composer or musician at the time.

My cat does not terrorize anything, thank you very much. Though I suppose she could have found something to keep her attention, not sure what it would be.

Alida was probably doing the latter, but I wouldn't know, as I'm not very much in touch with horse body language. Perhaps you are. I fail to see what this has to do with me.

Honestly, she does as she is instructed to do and that is all, nothing more and nothing less. Just because you're trying to find some excuse to make it seem like you're the victim in this doesn't mean that there actually is any base to it at all. And, as I seem to recall, we weren't in a perfect unison as your horse is nowhere near Alida's level, so kindly shove off.

There are posts there for a reason, Roderich! And it wouldn't have made any difference and it still would have happened if she had been tied up as, from what I know, mares don't have to be moving to still be bred. And there is not way in the world I would do that to Alida as she is perfection in the breed standard. Perfect conformation, lovely lineage, wonderful show results, far better than your horse.

The cat argument is becoming pointless. All I'm trying to say is that she's probably fine and not to worry. Excuse me for trying to lighten a situation; I had no intentions of arguing over what your cat is making a pig out of herself over.

When did I say I was a victim? Nowhere. It is however not my problem, nor is it my fault. Talk to Maestro. Go yell at him. And I'm the only one in the household that remotely cares about these things so when I'm away, he doesn't have the opportunity to train. Also the reason he hasn't been in any shows, but don't you dare insinuate he isn't a purebred Lipizzan. Alida will be back to normal in no time; a colt is not going to ruin her career. And are you honestly complaining about the prospect of another horse at your home? Goodness. Let her live a little.

Wait, wait a second. Back up. Letting her live a little? So first you call my horse a slut and now you're saying that I should just let her prance around getting mounted by any stallion that will have her? Wow, I didn't know you could be that hypocritical, but it really isn't that surprising. As for your precious little Maestro, I'm saying that he's nowhere near as quality as Alida is and thus that poor foal is probably not going to be the quality it deserves to be. You know, due to the sire being unwanted.

I was poking fun at first; are you really that awful at detecting lighthearted sarcasm? And I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that her getting pregnant is a minor setback for you, not her. The poor girl may have been lonely. If there's no reasonable compromise in your mind between total isolation and promiscuity, I have concerns for your life in general.

I haven't been able to let Maestro fulfill his potential. I don't even know what that potential is, so don't claim to know it either when he's my horse. And what is this about Maestro being unwanted? Don't speak for your horse. That's what psychologists call projecting. You're straight out of a textbook. I've no qualms saying this matchmaking business is ridiculous; I've no need to use my pets as puppets to say so. And don't call nonsense on me; you're the one who made this About You. Or About Me, rather, and you still didn't answer how on earth my poking fun at your desperate mare said anything about me.

You're speaking as if you know how my horse felt, shove it. We don't mix mares and stallions for obvious reasons, she was always out in pasture with the rest of the mares and it was perfectly fine. I'd still say the desperate one here was your's, not her.

I'm saying nothing about that matchmaking nonsense or making this about me, what if something goes wrong? What if I lose my horse because of complications? What then, Roderich? I'll have lost my best horse, best friend, and the best damn dressage horse that I've ever seen. You may not care that much, but I do. My horses are my life and don't you forget that for one single, solitary moment or try to attach some psychological bullshit to it.

I'm offering a different perspective! And not to be crass but she did not appear to be struggling or upset about the ordeal when we found them.

...What is the likelihood of that, though? I wouldn't worry. I hadn't considered that, but it doesn't mean I don't care. I do know that and I understand that. The likelihood of it is that it's still a possibility and the fact that I won't be there makes it even worse. I'd say I trust my father with it, but he has the rest of the horses and everything else to worry about and take care of as well. Meaning that there's no real way to keep a watch on her twenty-four seven which upsets me, okay?

Because I know that if something goes wrong and I'm not there, then it's my fault as it could have been something that was preventable. Or could have not happened in the first place if there was someone there looking for those early warning signs and able to do something before the problem got out of control.

You'll see her at Christmas. Your family is crazy but they're not crazy enough to not put an expecing mare on highest priority for care. And you know how they are; if something went wrong when your family is asleep, they'd make a racket and wake someone up. I think the other mares will look out for her, too. They're smart.

It wouldn't be your fault. I shouldn't have brought Maestro over at all; I should have just ridden one of yours and stopped being a coward that they'd all throw me off. ~~Even if you know they wou~~

[It's a bit comforting, to actually be reminded that her fears are pretty dumb. And that Christmas is only a few months away before she could see her precious baby again. Thus she doesn't reply right away, now until the next bit.]

Library is fine, usual spot. I've realized I don't have many things to review but it can't hurt. Could always just kill time looking at new books. But I don't want to keep you if you have work to do.

After dinner? Later than that? We have until ten this year, which is nice.

The library is fine, I'm sure I can think of something to occupy our time there if nothing else. I honestly have nothing else to do lately.

Well, not until practice starts up and club things kick off once again. After dinner is also perfectly fine.

Okay, but what have those teams done lately? 'Cause the Harpies have got a stellar lineup this year and I can't wait to watch 'em smash all comers.

The Vultures always have a killer team, no matter what year it is. They know how to pick their players for maximum efficiency where they can handle themselves beautifully one-on-one and in the team. As for the Goblins... They have the strategy and the most athletic team this year from what I've seen.

Most athletic, huh? Compared to other teams, or to previous years? Defensive or offensive?

I'm a little bit behind on the western part of Europe, sadly, but compared to the other teams. It's not their best team they've ever had, but it's hard to compare at times with all the new faces that show up and the older ones adapting new strategies. The Vultures are good on both sides, the Goblins are more of the defensive type, except for when it comes to the snitch.

I like offensive teams better myself, more fun to watch. The Harpies have some ace chasers this year, and their beaters aren't anything to sneeze at, either. Phillipa Loman won the pumpkin-hurling contest last year and she can bench press a cow.

If a team's good at defense then they're just as fun to watch, particularly if they don't do things the ways other teams do. Huh, I hadn't heard about Phillipa... I have to say I admire them keeping to their rule of only hiring women, it's interesting to watch. Though I still say they can't hold a candle to Bulgaria's teams, every one of them are just absolutely vicious.

Makes me wish my home country was more interested in Quidditch than they are, there really aren't any teams up to the level to be competitive.

Well, true, any good team is fun to watch, 'specially if they're playing an even match. And watching the Harpies take down all-male teams, it's wicked. The looks on the guys' faces when they get their asses handed to them by a bunch of girls...

'Course, I still watch the boys for the eye candy.

Guess I should start paying more attention to them, there's always amusement to be found in those kinds of matches. Sadly most of my summer was spent doing things that weren't related to Quidditch due to other... hobbies.

[Have a bit of an inkblot before she continues.] Well, yes, who doesn't like seeing athletic and muscular men with something between their legs? Honestly.

[You can't tell but she's highly amused.] True that.

What kind of other hobbies? Anything exciting?

[She could figure as much, to be perfectly honest.]

Well! I have a few horses, competing at the highest basic level I can in dressage as I cannot enter my horse into the FEI levels until she's seven. She's my dressage horse, then I have another one who I compete with in combined driving but only at the intermediate level, and lastly my eventing horse who... well, I haven't done much there lately as I was just recently bumped from junior rider levels to young rider levels...

Other than that I just help my family out and try to learn more about half of my culture, since my father really... doesn't speak about it.

Seriously!? You have three horses and you do shows? I can't even talk to you anymore.

Three horses that are mine, anyway. We have quite a few at home since it's something my father's always done, breeding and raising horses. It's not as impressive as it sounds, I promise! I focus more on the dressage horse than the other two...

I'm lucky if I get to even see a horse for a week or so a year, much less have three of my very own I get to ride around and compete with!

Well, we sort of live on the outskirts of the city where there's a lot of land. Even then I'd say those of you who live in a city proper are luckier, there's not a lot to do around there.

And I won't be able to compete with my dressage horse until after graduation next year, since I can only compete in summer. Since this coming summer I won't be able to due to some... issues.

Have you met Arthur Kirkland? He's often losing his cat and I'm fairly sure that cats tend to favour the same sorts of hiding places, so it's highly possible that he found yours while he was in search of his.

Arthur Kirkland... Name doesn't ring any bells, but I might have at least run into him without really knowing it. What house is he in? Maybe ~~hopefully~~ that's the case, I'd rather like to be able to concentrate without worrying about her...

He's in Slytherin 6th and would probably be more than happy to help you find your cat. And chances are, if you run into a cat that doesn't belong to you, it's probably his.

Huh. I might have run into him, then, considering an old friend of mine is in the same house and year. I'll have to see if he knows him...

Kirkland's cat always turns up relatively unharmed, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Although, if she found her way down to the potions' classrooms, she may have eaten something she probably shouldn't have.

[Well, no one said that her decisions in the matter were good.] Even more of a crime when they don't realize how awful they look, you know. But I suppose some people can't be blessed with that knowledge.

What's wrong with knowing a lot about Quidditch? It's a hobby just like everything else and for all you know, maybe it's something I one day hope to do outside of school. Though if it's because it's Quidditch... I could always go on about Equestrianism instead.

Thankfully you haven't as I'm sure she would have found a new scratching post.

It just seems useless to know so much about a sport. Sure, you could make a career on it, but not much of one. You wouldn't have a very long shelf life.

Thankfully as she could have eaten my toad, and then I'd have to hex her.

What if I were to say whatever hobby you have or whatever you're a fan of you know too much about? I don't see the point in why it'd be useless if it's something I'm interested in.

Thankfully for you as she would have killed it instead of eaten it, my cat doesn't eat disgusting toads. And even if she did, if you hexed her then you wouldn't have a single solitary moment without your life being a living hell.
