The temperature around here sure has dropped rather quickly hasn't it? I feel even more cold all the time. I think I might start wearing thermal shirts under my uniform.

I've been thinking since we'll all be spending more time indoors would people be interested in maybe having game nights? We could get together in The Great Hall and play cards or board games.
I was thinking poker could be fun..instead of money we could play for candy or something.
What do you guys think?

We should be allowed portable floating flames to bring with us around school, but I suppose it's too risky and a distraction.

That would be awesome. I'm surprised there aren't safer personal heating devices. I know Muggles have personal hand warmer things. They're these little pouches that you can activate somehow and they warm up and you can put them in your pockets to keep warm.

I remember those! Lots of ski trips, believe me. And electric blankets. One of my earliest memories is my mother nagging my father to throw out his electric blanket and to let her put a warming spell on the duvet. ... We should be able to do that to our robes; I wonder if it's permitted.

I have like, three electric blankets back home. One for the bed, one for the couch and one for the desk chair. My apartment's heating sucks.

That's a brilliant idea. I might look into that actually.

That's too bad. Heavy curtains might help a bit, I've heard, though I'm not sure how accurate that is...

Well, my place is on the basement level so I really don't have to worry much about curtains.

I thought so! It would be a cool way for you to stockpile your sweets if you happen to be good at the game.

I kinda wanted to get some card games and maybe a few board games in there as well. Maybe we could play poker or I could make a Wizard version of Monopoly.

It's a Muggle board game where you're given a starting amount of fake money and you go around a board with tokens and you can buy spaces on the board with fake money.
If people land on your spaces they have to pay you in fake money. You can also put little hotels or houses on your spaces which makes the amount of money people have to pay go up.
It's pretty easy once you get started and it's a good game for a larger group. Rounds can last a while.

I figured that one might be the best way to go as far as card games. Regular or Texas Hold 'Em are both easy enough for people to pick up on quickly I think.

Yeah, I played after gigs sometimes too..usually just regular poker though.
