So, I know that Halloween this year is a big memorial. What's it usually like? Do we get to trick or treat or anything or ...is that not something wizards do.

I have never been before. I imagine it will be very saddening, but perhaps touching? I should like to pay my respects.

Yeah- I don't really know much about what happened, but its always good to pay respects. The dead appreciate that sort of thing a lot.

Oh um. It's where you dress up in a costume and go to peoples houses. You say "trick or treat" and you get candy.

Nor do I, I just know that it was very bad and people do not like to talk about it.

How do you know what the dead like? Do they talk?

It is! I usually have a huge bag of candy at the end of the night.

Of course I have! I hadn't considered them, for some reason.

They just don't seem interested in talking to me about death, I suppose.

The feast last year was huge. I don't think I've ever seen Mabel eat that much before. Well, aside from at the beginning of the year feast.

I think a memorial's only proper.

Yeah. I've only heard a little about what happened but a memorial would be a really nice thing to have.

Loads. Candied apples, toffee, peppermint logs...you name it it was on the table. More wizarding candy like candied eyeballs and stuff like that too.

I know bits and pieces about what happened but not the full story.

Well, that's good. Man, did they have the little chocolate frogs, too? That would have been a disaster.

No one really likes to talk about it. They'll probably tell us at the memorial, though.

Ms. Marayam is a hack who deliberately tried to cover up the possibility of a devastating inferi outbreak. Granted, it was a false alarm, but she wasn't to know that, was she?

And I'll believe you're alive when I see it.

It sounds a lot to me like you're making a big deal over nothing. Also Ms. Maryam is really nice, you shouldn't say things like that, especially since she can read this and is sort of in charge of your well being.

If Hogwarts did do trick or treating, would you dress up for it?

I figure a lot of people might not, since it'd be with the memorial and all.

I dunno. Maybe. It would be fun, I guess.

Yeah, I don't think anyone's doing anything because of that.

Maybe next year the school can get people together to do some trick or treating. Like in Hogsmeade or around to all the teachers and houses or something.

Maybe we can trick or treat through classrooms and stuff. We're not allowed to go to Hogsmeade until third year anyway.

it is! but for good reason! its two events in one on that day so id imagine theyd try not to focus it all around the memorial

its really cute whenever the first years experience this stuff for the first time!

Personally i think that if trick or treating isnt something wizards do then those of us that have experienced it need to show them a good time!
And im not really sure of the specifics on the memorial. Something very important thats for sure.

That's what I've heard so far. Something to do with a war that was going on?

With a bit of imagination im sure we could come up with something. I suppose it makes sense given there arent exactly houses to go wandering to with buckets or pillow cases. But well make do!

Yes thats what id heard as well. It must have been something people very much wanted to keep under wraps... Which really only makes me more curious!

I was talking to someone else about maybe trick-or-treating between classrooms instead of houses.

Maybe they'll actually tell us at the memorial.
