So. I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but somehow Dumbledore decided that I'm suitable for the position of HoH for Gryffindor.

[He's... quite honestly pretty damn shocked by this. He never expected to be entrusted with such a huge responsibility, and... Well. He considers it a huge honor. Gryffindor is important to him, even if it's for stupid reasons. Even if he had to argue in order to get put in Gryffindor, back when he was in school. But even more than the simply fact he values Gryffindor traits, the simple act of being given so much responsibility means a lot to him, because it shows that Dumbledore has seen how much he's changed. He's been trying to do better lately, and it honestly feels like all of his effort has paid off. He's determined to not let him down.]

So yeah, I guess that's... that. I'm not really sure what to say, but I have to say; it's an honor. I'm going to take this position seriously, so anyone who thinks this means Gryffindor is going to be able to slack off has another thing coming to them.

But with that said, you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask, got it? I was given this for a reason, which means you can trust me with stuff. I'm here for you guys. In fact, I might as well go ahead and say you're all part of the Strider family now, now that I'm the Head of House. Who knows, maybe I'll even hand out shades.

[You know what? He's too damn excited for this. He may be playing it off like he doesn't really want it, but he does. So damn much. So he's just going to head to her place now and knock on the door.

[Oh, how sweet.. She really does find him so completely endearing, and it's only a few moments before she's answering the door, gesturing for him to come on inside. Her smile is something she can't help - she caught the enthusiasm in that knocking.]

Have a seat, and clasp your hands loosely on your lap. I will bring him over to you.

[Nooo he is not endearing! He just can't help being excited at the prospect of the bat. He's practically fallen in love with Dolores's bats, so the idea of having one of his own? As terrifying as it is because he doesn't want to do it wrong, it's also just fucking awesome. Bats. Batman was always one of his favorite things...]

[He moves over to a chair and gives her a small smile in return, before clasping his hands together like she said to. He's trying very hard not to look as excited as he feels right now.]

[She only takes a moment, then comes over to him with something held in her hands. She crouches in front of him, looks up at him with a smile and gently urges a small, furry bat onto his waiting hands.]

There, now.. be careful, let him get used to you.

[Oh god.

Oh god. It's too fucking adorable, he can't handle this. He just stares down at the bat as if he's going to somehow break it and like the idea of that is the worst thing in the world. Is this thing really his? How the hell could he possibly possess something so adorable?

[Bro reaches with his finger and gives the bat a little rub to the head, trying not to smile at it. God, he feels like such a sap right now but the thing is so adorable that it's almost physically painful.]

Yeah... alright. Uh. How big is it gonna get? Is it a boy or a girl? Do I keep it in a cage, or can he like, chillax on my shoulder all the time? I mean, unless it shits on me, then... Yeah, I should probably invest in a cage... D'you think it'll get lonely? Should I get it a friend one of these days?

This is a male. He has no name yet, so you may call him what you like. [She smiles at all his questions, pleased that he's asking them rather than keeping his concerns to himself.]

He'll grow a little bigger yet than this, and you can keep him on your shoulder if you wish to. They are quite intelligent creatures and can be trained. I will help you with anything you need, don't worry.

[That has Bro perking up, and he raises his eyebrows curiously.]

You can train 'em? What kind of tricks can it learn?

[She looks over to the large cage where her own are resting, and whistles a single note. The smallest of the three soon shuffles his way out of the cage and flies over to her, landing clumsily on her shoulder. She pets between his ears and he chitters softly.]

If you are patient, they will come when called, and they can be quite acrobatic little things.

[Or, well.. aerobatic.]

[Ermagerd that sounds so cool! He's definitely gonna teach it tricks. All the fucking tricks. Slowly, so as not to jar the bat in his hands, he stands up. Shifting it to one hand, he leans in and wraps his one free arm around her, pulling her into a hug.]

You're amazing, thank you so much.

[The little creature clinging to her own shoulder makes a noise, but doesn't move, and she does her best to hug him in return without dislodging her pet.]

You are very welcome. What will you call him?

[Oh god. a name. he hasn't even though about that, yet! Shit. He pulls away and sits back down, eyes a little wide behind his shades as he thinks about it for a moment. His mind comes up blank, though. What d'you even name a baby bat, anyway?]

Geez, I dunno. I'll have to think about it. It doesn't need naming right away, does it? I'll have to give it some thought...

Aha, of course not, you can take your time.

[Oh, dear. If she'd known this kind of situation would arise from what was (from her perspective) a simple gesture, she would have endeavoured to do it sooner.]

[A little overwhelmed, honestly. But it's the good kind of overwhelmed in which he's just happy as fuck and doesn't know quite what to do with it. The best kind of overwhelmed.]
