Students and staff, I regret to inform you that we have a serious predicament on our hands.

I recieved word from the Ministry today that there has been a report of the use of an Unforgivable Curse by a minor, within the Hogwarts grounds.

While we do not yet know the identity of the individual that cast the curse, I can assure you that we will be doing everything we can to discover them, and anyone who may have had a hand in the affair. The safety of my students is my utmost concern.

Until the culprit or culprits are caught, I must insist that students take great care in the corridors. You shall be accompanied to and from classes by your professors, and I would ask that any free time is spent in your respective common rooms, rather than roaming the castle. Prefects, I must ask you your cooperation as well, to see that these rules are upheld.

I am truly sorry that such a thing should happen during what should be a time of peace and celebration.

I would like to request all staff members meet in my office at your earliest convenience.

Use of an Unforgivable Curse most usually results in an immediate sentence to Azkaban.

Given that the culprit in this case is a minor, some leniency may be warranted, but I assure you, Mister Reed, they will be swiftly detained in any case.

I wouldn't typically cast blame on a student without just cause.

However, I find it worth mentioning that after my...fight with Galen Marek, he implied that he considered killing me even after I mentioned Azkaban, and I firmly believe that casting one of the Unforgivable Curses is something he would have the inclination to do. I have no way of knowing his potential involvement in this incident, but I believe it is something worth looking into.

[Don't think he doesn't see that Stinkeye, Iroh. Hades' expression remains neutral banking toward disinterested. Certainly having students throwing Unforgivable Curses around won't do, but he's not terribly concerned about it. Frankly, he's a little impressed a student managed it, but of course he'll be keeping that little tidbit to himself.

[Threading his fingers together, he rests his chin on them and eyes Dumbledore.]

So which curse was it? [No sense beating around the bush.] It should be easier to narrow down a pool of suspects based on the situation, don't'cha think? I mean, there are definitely plenty of students I just don't think have it in 'em to use the Cruciatus Curse, am I right?

It was indeed the Cruciatus Curse that was used, and unfortunately no, at this time, we do not know who the victim was.

If the victim was in fact a student, they may have understandable concerns about coming forward; I encourage all of you to make yourselves open and available to any student who claims to have information about the incident.
