[Feferi closes her journal and heads out to the cattery, pausing long enough to slip on shoes.]

Karkat, what are you doing out here? I thought you were allergic to cats.

[He's sitting in one of the chairs usually reserved for the cats, legs crossed and a ginger tabby in his lap looking as sour faced as he does and unhappy with the fact that it's not getting attention.]

I figured I could try sneezing myself to death. Then maybe everyone would be fucking happy.

[Feferi smiles sadly and walks over to him, dragging another chair over to sit next to him. She reaches over and scratches the ginger tabby on his lap behind the ear.]

I wouldn't be.

[The tabby's ear flicks back as Karkat rubs at his nose with the back of his sleeve, glancing away.]

I'm a douche, Fef.

[Feferi's known Karkat long enough to know that tone. This time, he's being a self-deprecating, melodramatic martyr for a reason. She sighs and pulls her hand back from the cat.]

What's happened now?

[He feels stupid for being upset about this. He really, really does, and his cheeks actually flush before he glances away.]

Tavros chewed me out for lying to him.

[Ah-ah, she sees that. She decides to let him alone for the time being. At least until she has more of the story.]

Well, why did you lie to him?

We kind of did something stupid on Parent's Day with Gamzee. And he didn't remember any of it so I figured it was for the best that I didn't tell him what happened. [Karkat brings his hands up to his chin before burying his forehead against them.] He got pissed at me and said Peter Pan would be disappointed. I...kind of said who gives a fuck about Peter Pan?

[Feferi sits back up straight a little at that, her eyebrows arching up as she explains. Her loyalties are so divided it's not even funny. On the one hand, Tavros is one of her dearest friends and her housemates, and he was probably even more hurt by what Karkat said than by the rap battle.]

[On the other, Karkat is her boyfriend, and it's obvious that he's remorseful and hurt as well. She resolves to check on Tavros later, but for now she'll take care of Karkat. She reaches out and puts a hand on his back.]

But you're planning to apologize, right? Not right now, obviously, but...I'm sure neither one of you want to be fighting like this.
