I hope you students have not yet managed to fatally wound yourselves. We've only been out of school for a week, and I'd hope you lot could survive for a few months without close supervision.

I will not be assigning any summer work, but I do expect for you all to come to school with the proper books and with memories of what you learned the year prior. I'd rather not have to reteach you the basics again.

Unfortunately I will be going on this "retreat" as Dumbledore calls it, and I will be gone for quite a few days. Please refrain from getting into trouble or harm.

I would certainly hope that the rules in place against underage use of magic would keep the more unruly element in line.

Shame we can't use those rules against staff members. Present company excluded, of course.

There are plenty of non-magical ways for a student to hurt themselves. I wouldn't trust most of these students to not cut themselves on blunt objects.

Life would be simpler that way. Perhaps not as entertaining, though.

This is true. Perhaps I should invest in less expensive equipment for the Astronomy Tower. I don't want my better instruments getting broken.

You have a very good point there.

I'm sure the Headmaster would agree with that decision. Alternatively your students could buy their own equipment.

What would living be like without the joy of watching others get themselves in over their head?
