Okay. I've got a few minutes where I'm out of anyone's earshot. I promise I won't say anything to anyone else. What's going on?

[Quit stalling, Marcie. She gives a small sigh.]

She almost did. Almost locked up the journal too. Took an owl from Professor Coulson to get her to see reason.

[She gasps, as quietly as she can while whispering.]

Yeesh. I'm amazed she let you come to the Cauldron.

My ex-boyfriend. I dunno if you met him at the show or not but he turned me because I got pissed at him. [She lets a 'pffft' sound carry over.] Like he thought that would make me stay or something.

That was before all the mess went down. And she was off visiting Gran. It was Dad who said I could come.

Wait. You mean the guy who was staring down anyone who even so much as waved at you? Even me, when I came up after to say hi? That guy? Why, I ought to...what a butt!

Yeah, that guy. I didn't realize what a psycho jerk he was. It's part of the reason why I couldn't hang out after the show, since he has a problem with 'mere mortals'.

I'd have dumped his sorry butt way before then. What a possessive jerkbutt! 'Mere mortal'? I'll show him 'mere mortal'!

But there's got to be something some of the professors can do. Maybe talk to Professor Mercer? There has to be some kind of potion you can take to make it so you won't get all burnt up playing Quidditch! I'm finally going out for the team this year!

You? On the Quidditch team?

Well, I can go out so long as I cover up. I'm a newborn so I don't have the strength to avoid sunlight like the more older vampires do I guess. So far a large sunhat and gloves seem to do the trick but I'm not out for long periods of time.

You sound so surprised! Don't think I can hack it? I've been practicing with some of the neighborhood kids, and I think I've gotten pretty good!

Well, I'm still sure there's something that can be done about it. I'd hate for you not to be able to play when you love it so much.

...and I still want to punch that jerk ex-boyfriend of yours.
