I suppose I might as well join in the recent wave of announcement posts. I have also been given the honor of being made a fifth year prefect, for Hufflepuff. Congratulations to all of my fellow prefects and a hello to those now under my care! Rapunzel, if you'd like to talk whenever you have time? Since we're both Hufflepuff prefects I think it might be prudent to discuss how we're going to handle our duties.

Those of you who volunteered to help with the filtering charm, I haven't forgotten you! I've been researching theory and it really shouldn't be difficult at all to create the charm we want. If you are alright with waiting until school is back in session, as most of us can't do magic, I think we can have it in effect a few days after the start of term.

In slightly less serious news and in the spirit of heading Maxim off before he starts to brag too obnoxiously about it, he and I have finally given in to the inevitable and

I know you did. Which is why I wanted to head you off. You'd have made the announcement with a howler that spat streamers and glitter. Now people will at least be prepared when you inevitably do so anyway.

....Ken hyu do dot? [Because that sounds awesome. Well whatever, he's just going to plop down at Van's table, practically in his lap, and steal a sip of his coffee] Vell, mebbe Hy vasn't gonna. Mebbe Hy vas gonna do it tastefully und tactfully. Mebbe Hy vas gonna supprize hyu.

[Van, don't give him ideas. He lets Maxim sip his coffee, because he learned long ago that you don't interrupt a Jaeger when they're eating or drinking.]

[Yeah, because interrupting an eating/drinking Jaeger means you get bit. But no worries, that's the only sip he's stealing because he makes a face as he puts the coffee cup down. Van, why is your coffee so coffee flavored? Why can't you be into like mochas and cappuccinos like normal teenagers?]

[And with that, he grabs it and Van's pen, writing a quick entry of his own on a fresh page]

Oh, yes, very mature. I am absolutely in awe of your adult handling of this situation.

[He takes back his journal and look at Maxim's entry for a few moments, before shaking his head.]

Really. I applaud you. Do you want me to make you something? You know you hate what I usually drink.

Schut op, hyu luff me. [He sulks, dropping his head onto Van's shoulder. He wasn't really all that made since, yeah, this was a pretty good thing, but that didn't mean he had to be mature about it.]

No, Hy vant hyu vaitresses to make me zumting. Hyu Hy vant to schtay right here vhere Hy ken sit on hyu.

Mm. Because what I had envisioned for my day was definitely being sat on by Jaeger boy while I was trying to finish my homework.

[He so obviously isn't complaining, though.]

It's vhat HY enfizioned for hyu day. [And then he gives Van a huge, toothy smile, batting his eyes at him]

[A frenzied sort of insplatter appears. It is then smeared slightly in a hasty attempt to clean it off the page.]

I don't think we've ever spoken, but congratulations! From what I've heard, I think you'll do very well as a prefect.

More or less, yes! I suppose this more than makes up for the fiasco that was camp.
