To anyone who might have heard about my brother Phineas' unfortunate accident and subsequent stay in hospital, mother has informed me that he's perfectly fine now. I'm sure all of those whose lives he has touched with his generosity and gentleness of spirit will be very relieved.

I'm not in your class, it would hardly be my place to make such a comment to you. I just don't see the use of your assignment, personally. Would you prefer I never share my opinions with other students? Again, if this is a requirement of the journals, I'd prefer that be made clear so I can moderate my behavior in the future. Or is it only negative opinions about yourself that I should censor?

I see other students say such things about other teachers all the time, and they are not reprimanded for it, including your own son. However, I accept that I have offended you. I would just like some clear guidelines. From what I can deduce from what you've said, and behavior I have observed in others, it is merely unacceptable to find public fault with YOUR personal appearance and teaching methods. Since that seems to be the case, I'll refrain from addressing you at all when speaking to other students. My apologies, sir.
