I understand that it might be a little difficult to handle given that it's only the first week back, but I can't be the only one appalled by the behaviour of the students, can I?

Honestly. It's gotten to the point where detention has become a joke and removing points is a formality. I actually have no idea how I'm meant to deal with the amount of misbehaviour going on when they won't listen to a word I say! A student went so far as to

It's a little difficult to comprehend. Is there any advice anybody can give me, because I am at a loss here. I think perhaps it's time for a discussion amongst ourselves before things get even more out of hand.


We're much stronger as team than we are individually, in any case.

While it's a practical solution, I'm inclined to feel that the punishment must be more swift or the lesson is forgotten.

And I'm guessing the students will probably try and sneak out anyway through one of the hidden routes in Hogwarts.

Well I haven't had much interaction with teenagers before this, but occasionally at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, we'd get the occasional wizard who think Muggle baiting is a great way of impressing their friends. Or sometimes they'd just do it because they find it fun to watch Muggles confused about missing keys and steps. They like getting a rise out of them.

With the way they've been behaving, that's very likely.

It's true in some cases, yes. Though some of my experiences have been with students who were alone with me, So...Unless it was just to get a rise out of me....

How would you deal with those people?

Community service. If they're repeat offenders we send them to a holding cell for up to three days.

I'm not sure if we can lock them up, but community service could prove to be useful.

I'm sure there are some cauldrons that could use some scrubbing. A little elbow grease never hurt anyone after all. And I heard the ghosts could use someone to keep Sir Cadogan off their backs long enough for them to have their weekly meetings.

I had assigned a few children to cleaning duties, though I wonder if the message really sinks in.
