It has come to the Ministry's, and therefore my, attention that Hogwarts is in need of some... Assistance. Given the Headmaster's unfortunate inability to keep things under control at camp and even now under his very own roof, the Ministry has seen fit to appoint me High Inquisitor.

I can assure you that this is a very good thing, despite what you may be thinking and on behalf of the Ministry I would like to formally apologize for the events at camp. It is unfortunate that his carelessness would result in such an unfortunate occurrence. I can assure you that while I'm here, none of you will get so out of control.

You may have heard that it was dark magic responsible, but I can promise you that this was a lie made up only to justify a few rowdy teenagers. This will not be tolerated while I'm here, believe me. Everyone's safety is of my utmost concern, and it's up to me to prune the thorny hedges and keep everything nice and orderly.

With that said, I do not tolerate disobedience of any kind, and if I catch any kind of behaviour like what was displayed at camp, the consequences will be severe. This is the only warning I am going to give anyone. I fully expect to get along with every student here, however, so do not let my faith go unrewarded.

Finally, along with my position as High Inquisitor, I have also been appointed Herbology Professor. But considering the importance of the position, it would be best for you to refer to me as Inquisitor Snow rather than Professor.

I'm calling you misinformed.

Please forgive my brashness, sir, but I've been an auror for nearly fourteen years. One would imagine I would possess the ability to detect dark magic. Unless the ministry takes issue with the potential for dark magic, which seems somewhat counter productive.

And under whose authority did you investigate the camp? If I recall correctly, you're retired, which means it was no longer within your right to do that. And you were quite mistaken, as my own team of aurors investigated the place and found nothing amiss.

Under the school's authority and Dumbledore's, sir. It was not a self lead investigation, I was approached by a concerned party. I might be retired, sir, but I haven't forgotten what it is to be an auror. I was one of the few present able to conduct a brief inspection to ensure that the students were not entirely to blame.

There's something terribly wrong with those grounds, sir. If your team was unable to see that I may have to respectfully question their abilities as you have my own.

Considering you went under the authority of Dumbledore, who should have never let the situation happen, I question the abilities of those he appointed. Which is to say yes, I am respectfully questioning your abilities just as well.

Your insistence that something was wrong is nothing but extreme paranoia and a means to justify the actions of those who caused trouble.

With all due respect, you can't prevent what you aren't aware of. You can question away, sir, but it's only a matter of time before the issue comes to rise again.

However, it's obvious you aren't willing to discuss it and I would hate for it to come between us. So maybe we should agree to disagree?

Perhaps at this point in time that would be best.

And in the future, it would be a good idea to remind your son just who is in authority here. I do not appreciate being talked to in the manner he has.
