I hope everyone had fun...

Well, I think I can say that was a great way to welcome back the term, don't you?

Because if nothing else, I know how to bring style.

And you know Thor, looks like your Christmas present actually works.

[He is of course referring to the Ravenclaw win.]
arrogantalloy: (T: 015 Yeah you know that's wrong)

Peter, girls. I've been thinking.

Last match we had a flashy entrance that well ultimately didn't distract Hufflepuffs, because they're all, reliable and focused. My oversight, but hey, the crowd loved it.

But what's your thought on charmed uniforms to make them sparkle and be all shiny and glittery. One of those 'If you can't dazzle them with wit, bewilder them with showboating'

I know the last word is lies, but really, showboating gets the crowd on our side because we're something to cheer for.

Does anyone have any ideas for plays we can use? It's not that I don't have them but I'm thinking of putting more teamwork into the team, because, well, yay team spirit.

I always used to think walls were so boring, you know? But I'm re-evaluating that opinion, in photography anyway. I never noticed how interesting they could be sometimes. Trees too, they're pretty photogenic - I'm jealous!

Anyway, yeah, I'm still up for taking pictures if anyone wants any?

[Someone's not even going to make mention that he was an adorable babbu previously.]

I'm still offering to take pictures of anyone wants them and I'll be at the Ball to take pictures! So yes, I don't mind taking some for you there! Just find me.

Am I the only one excited about this time of year? Other than everything getting super unflattering outside this time of year is brilliant; I think it really brings people together.

[Filtered away from Bonni!]

Also, what kind of Christmas gift do you get... someone that says you think they're the best girlfriend and absolutely amazing and fantastic?... I don't know how to shop for girls...

Did you like your photos? I left them in your room ages ago.

It seems the powers that be have quite the esoteric sense of humour. I arrive to take up my new duties and a large portion of the student body has been rendered incapable of reading anything more challenging than the most simplified versions of "Babbity Rabbity and her Cackling Stump".

In any case, greetings, Hogwarts. My name is Ezra Fell. Headmaster Dumbledore has requested I take up the mantle as Librarian of this school, as apparently my predecessor was found lacking in some way. Some of you may be familiar with the bookshop I run in Soho down in London; it's a popular location for youngsters to duck into to try to pluck up the courage to try to sneak into some of the more... illicit establishments in the area.

[VOICE]

Er, I might as well speak this part as some of the potentially interested parties may not be able to read at this juncture. If any of the small children would like to see a presentation of Muggle sleight-of-hand "magic", I am something of an enthusiast and would be pleased to put on a show.

Really, now, Hufflepuffs, you can call yourselves Badger Moles all you want. We all know who played the cleaner match out there yesterday. Flinging Bludgers at the Chasers' heads inside the goal-scoring area? That's hardly anything to cheer and stomp about.

Natasha, Tony, I hope you're both all right. And same for you, Vladimir. I honestly wasn't aiming to hurt you.

As for the rest of team Ravenclaw: we played the cleaner, tighter match yesterday. That's something to be proud of, all right? We're not the ones bragging about winning a match where we tried to take someone's heads off.

[There are a lot of ink blots and crossed out starts to this entry. Coraline seems to want to say something but isn't quite sure how to even begin.]

Oh forget it. I'm not even going to bother commenting on the match.

I'm starting to think I'm cursed or something guys. I seriously practiced that move a zillion freaking times. I could do it in my freaking sleep. I can't believe that I let something as stupid as the wind mess me up.

I'm sorry guys. I bet you're all pretty disappointed in me aren't you?

Just a heads up for the coming semester, for those who might be interested.

Once the Spring semester starts, my class will be open to third years and up. Grades aren't important in my class. All that matters is your participation and determination. This is only a taste of the real thing. If you think you can handle my class, I won't turn you away.

Just participating in my class won't guarantee you an in with the Ministry's Auror training. If you truly want a career as an Auror, talk to me, and I'll make sure you get the necessary information and requirements.

I'm open to any questions you might have.

(Anyone who sees Peter around on his free time is going to see him with someting wrapped around his neck with an ugly strap.)

So, hi. I don't really know how to offer this - I guess I should just spit it out figuratively, right? Okay, so, after what seemed like ages of people deciding that my aunt's gift to me wouldn't kill anyone. I mean, I guess you could be afraid that cameras steal your soul and stuff... Anyway! She got me a new camera, since someone decided... well, that my last one looked better in bits last year.

If any of the clubs want their photos taken or something, I wouldn't mind doing it. Get used to the camera and stuff.

Also!

I know the match is going to be coming up soon and I've been tinkering with the new broom I got from Tony Oh my god, it's so cool. I lessened the overall surface area as much as possible. If you want some help with modifying your broom or just to get an idea of how you can, I'd love to help!

It's really easy.. The best approximation to figure out the current surface area would be to get the length of the handle, the circumference of the handle, the width of the other parts, the thickness of them, and the length of the side of all parts. Then find the surface area of a cylinder (for the handle), the area of two triangles (faces of the brush), and the area of three rectangles (the bottom and sides of the brush).

Oh, I could take pictures for you to send back to your families too if you want, I don't mind...

I have some pretty strange dreams, you can imagine, I'm sure. I've had a couple odd ones lately, and I know there's multiple studies both science and magic related behind dreams and what they mean. Well, I guess one of them was more of a nightmare; I woke up terrified, I don't know why, really -- but, this massive american purple tyrannosaurus rex was trying to talk me into going near the window so he could eat me! All American accented and everything it was weird! I woke up after a while of him trying his best strangely terrified.

And THEN, right? I was sleeping the other night, as you do, casual like, right? And THE SAME CHEEKY T-REX was subbing for Professor Donoghue! This time he was a lot smaller though, and he had a cowboy hat on... He kept getting mad at me because I kept telling people to stay away from him.

I don't see how those could be related to any form of science or magic other than me eating too much candy before bed.

Guess the Brits do know a thing or two about parties. Can't think of a time when America celebrates with burning effigies country wide.

I obsess about things – guilty as charged. If you've ever seen my room, I’m always juggling a few projects... and some of them have been going for quite some time. As you also probably know, I ask a lot of questions; well, there's been one question sort of bugging me.

What were the first people thinking when they clap? Now I know what you're thinking: "Peter, shut up and go to bed." But really!

Who thought to stand there and smack their hands together to create noise to cheer for someone or something?

Anyone know if it even started out as cheering?

As hilarious and thoroughly entertaining as it was to watch our esteemed and ancient Professors bumble about on the pitch, I fully expect that the actual Slytherin team will do quite a bit better than that lot did.

I say this not as a captain, but a very nearly unbiased observer.

That being said, I hope my teammates are staying in tip-top shape in preparation for the match on Sunday. Practising may seem grueling at the moment, but it will all pay off in the end. Particularly if we want to beat out Ravenclaw in points.

It's been over a month and a half and I still don't know what to think about Hogwarts - it's nothing like how Dean described it at all. Does the house you get sorted into make that big of a difference?

It's a lot louder then I was expecting, more crowded. Not to mention I still don't have the stair schedules down, so I keep getting lost.

The dorms are alright, at least, even if they can be kind of cold. The library is the absolute best part, though. Does anybody have books they can recommend?

I wish home was more like this.

Just going to say, I'm looking forward to this weekends match. Really, being kind of honest here.

And yeah, I know it's late. But watching the Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff teachers win, was exhilarating, I was on the edge of my seat. Riveting stuff.

One more thing. Going to say that I can easily say I'm proud of my girls and Peter at training last week. We're going to sweep this year for sure.
