It has come to the Ministry's, and therefore my, attention that Hogwarts is in need of some... Assistance. Given the Headmaster's unfortunate inability to keep things under control at camp and even now under his very own roof, the Ministry has seen fit to appoint me High Inquisitor.
I can assure you that this is a very good thing, despite what you may be thinking and on behalf of the Ministry I would like to formally apologize for the events at camp. It is unfortunate that his carelessness would result in such an unfortunate occurrence. I can assure you that while I'm here, none of you will get so out of control.
You may have heard that it was dark magic responsible, but I can promise you that this was a lie made up only to justify a few rowdy teenagers. This will not be tolerated while I'm here, believe me. Everyone's safety is of my utmost concern, and it's up to me to prune the thorny hedges and keep everything nice and orderly.
With that said, I do not tolerate disobedience of any kind, and if I catch any kind of behaviour like what was displayed at camp, the consequences will be severe. This is the only warning I am going to give anyone. I fully expect to get along with every student here, however, so do not let my faith go unrewarded.
Finally, along with my position as High Inquisitor, I have also been appointed Herbology Professor. But considering the importance of the position, it would be best for you to refer to me as Inquisitor Snow rather than Professor.

Re: [Filtered]
Let the older people handle it, Strider. We have less to lose by it. He could go so far as to expell you or he could bring your family into question.
Trust me, it's easier to stay quiet sometimes.
[Filtered]
Why is he even being allowed a position when the basis for it is a complete lie?
It's too hard to stay quiet, especially knowing who this could affect. Like. Okay I would hate for something to happen to Dave and Uncle Dirk but this isn't fair at all to people like Tavros and Vriska.

If you would like to discuss it in person, my office is open and probably will be for some time.
[Filtered]
Can I come see you now?

There's a soft tap on the door before he just goes ahead and opens it.]
action
Honestly, he's probably just as shaken up as Dirk right now, so there's some obvious apprehension in his voice when he calls out.]
Come in-- Ah, Strider. Why don't you take a seat?
action
Are you mad at me?
action
Mad? Certainly not. Concerned? Very much so. I don't think you quite understand the threat our esteemed High Inquisitor poses, Strider.
action
[He's underestimating everything.]

The Minister of Magic is like the Prime Minister.
Action
[He waves him off.] I think you should consider taking political studies.
The most important thing to understand is that the ministry has control of the entire wizarding world. From interactions with muggles to our education systems. There are inquiries on occasion, in regards to suspicious behaviour, though sometimes the behaviour is less suspicion of danger toward magical folk and more a danger toward the power of the system.
As such, the Inquisitors will sniff out what they see as a potential threat to power and will, essentially, stamp it out. Rebellion is of course, an option, but it is best done in silence. Another important thing to note is that the more unruly students act, the more incompetent the staff here appear. If you continue to back talk he may begin takin' it out on myself or even your uncle. Do you understand?
Action
I just don't understand how there can be an institution like this in modern society. But I guess wizards are still backwards and don't know much about democracy. Shouldn't there be more of a balance of power? Who even decides whom is put into a position of power? When do their terms end?
These Inquisitors sound more or less like... any form of secret police, whether KGB, Stasi, or Gestapo. It shouldn't even be a thing. Obviously if something like this is required, there's something fundamentally wrong with the system and it should be changed.
It's 2012. Tyranny shouldn't be a thing. In Europe, at least. Because other places are still trying to democratize, so they can't exactly be held to the same standard. [He huffs. Just talking about all of this is enough to get him worked up again. On an unrelated note, he wishes he was able to bring his Nook so he could read more on these topics. He also doesn't realise that a normal kid wouldn't have ever gone out of their way to study things in more detail outside of school.]
I just don't like the idea of sitting back and doing nothing. I can't stand it. But... I don't want to get anyone else in trouble.
Action
[Okay. That was kind of snarky, but he's a little prickly right now.]
I don't know half of the words you're spoutin', but I'm goin' to assume they're muggle terms. I can't begin to make an informed comparison of the wizardin' world and the muggle world, but you need to remember the key difference, magic.
Magic is the wild card here. It's not a force one can easily control, but you cannot allow it to run rampant. The logic behind the ministry is all there, but where there's a higher power there will always be a few people-- like Snow-- tryin' to abuse it.
I may have been too brash with my description of the ministry, I didn't mean to dismiss it as entirely useless, it's a necessary evil in the wrong hands. However, the higher forces are to be trusted. I have faith that it's not an absolutely lost cause so long as the majority of us remain protected.
You would do well to keep your head down, Strider. Or you'll find yourself with worse consequences than a bruised ego.
Action
If people are going to abuse it, why are they allowed to be in that position? It sends the wrong message. This just---
I don't like this.
[He's too frustrated to be able to speak properly.]
Action
Nobody likes it, but the more you protest the more trouble you'll find yourself in. Like quicksand without a wand.
Action
What does quicksand have to do with a wand? A rope would be better so you could pull---you could probably keep the sand from moving with a wand, huh?
[Dumb.]
Action
[Pause.] Though I will agree to the fact that he is terribly offputting, we can't point fingers until he actually does something. [And then he finds out that he threatened to deport his Sybille. No big.]
Somethin' like that, yes. How could you not realise that? [Someone doesn't understand muggleborns.]
Action
That might be one of the harder parts though. What if we have to said for years?
[He pauses.] I'm not used to having a wand to do things for me. And because everyone knows that unless there's someone nearby to help or if you can get a good grip on a vine, you can't escape quicksand and you'll die.
Action
If we can all behave ourselves, he'll have nothin' to investigate and will probably be placed somewhere else.
I suppose that's why you're at school, then.
Action
No way. Clearly the reason I'm in school is 'cause I know everything already. [Blatant sarcasm, but he at least isn't being serious.]
