[Kankri stays uncharacteristically quiet when Dolores stands and begins the wandwork and quiet incantations that are meant to diagnose. He can't deny the way his pulse starts to race as she nears the end, the expression on her face still unreadable.

When the verdict is delivered, he feels less disappointed than he probably should.]


I wasn't expecting that it would be, to be honest. I would be quite disappointed in all that I've heard about the permanence of death if it could be undone like a prison sentence after so many years.

...But for now, I'm alive again, right?
