4th Cup of Coffee

Is it normal for cups of perfect Turkish coffee to appear when one isn't looking? Thank you to whoever took the time to do something so thoughtful Maxim?, but I don't actually think we're allowed to have food or drink in the library. You're lucky I'll bend rules for coffee.

[Filtered to Rapunzel]

We ought to talk, I think. I've been putting it off and that's stupid of me and not fair to you or him besides.

[There's a moment where Maxim considers taking credit for the perfect cup of coffee and passing it off as an "I'm sorry I'm impulsive and dumb" gesture, but if he was honest with himself, and he liked to think that he was always honest with himself, there was no way Van would ever believe that he could make a perfect cup. A good cup, maybe. A mean cup, definitely. But perfect? No way.]

[Besides, his shenanigan senses were tingling pretty hard about all this stuff that's been going on lately, and he'd hate to take credit for shenanigans only for Van to find out he lied. That sort of thing is a very slippery slope. You lie about shenanigans, and the next thing you know, you're lying about all sorts of things, and that just won't do]

[So instead of putting up some kind of front and acting like the coffee was all a part of his plan, he swallowed his pride and scooted down to the library. Because he'd definitely been avoiding Van, and he was really, really starting to miss him. It wasn't that he didn't want to acknowledge that he'd screwed up, because he did. He'd known and accepted the fact that he'd made a mistake the moment Greg broke him and Rapunzel apart. It was just... doing something about that mistake, instead of dropping it and letting it be in the past that was the hard part.]

[So he appeared before Van, hands in his pockets and head bowed, shuffling his feet against the floor]
'm sorry.
