[It's like a death march up the stairs from the common room. His mouth has gone dry, all of his fluid located to his clammy palms. He nudges the door to the boys' dorm open and peers inside.]

[And John is... Still not sure this is the right thing to do. Because Jade is involved, his sister. And even if Dave is ok with this, how will she react? This just more of a mess than he ever wanted to get into, especially regarding dumb romance things.

But the strange urge is getting so strong it's almost unbearable. He needs the release of the kiss, just so his mind will be clear again and he can think of something to say or do when it's done.

And when Dave walks in the room, it's all John can do not to just tackle him.]

[Ever since Dave had thought how much easier his life would be if he knew what he was doing, it had felt like every interaction with John and Jade had been guided, like he was being told what the right answer was. He wasn't sure how much to trust this sudden gut instinct, but...so far so good, anyway.

He's babbling from the moment he comes in the door, closing it behind him.]

[Whatever Dave was going to say, John will never find out, because right now, with Dave up close and in person like that, it became impossible to resist the urge. Without sparing a second for thought, doubt or regret, he flings himself at Dave and covers the other boy's lips with his own, his fists grabbing Dave's collar tightly, pulling him closer and keeping him in place.]

[Dave obviously needs to be cut off, but the feeling of John's lips against his really get the job done. After a brief pause, he responds, arms wrapping around John's waist as he presses back into the kiss with a sudden need. This might be the one chance he had. He was going to enjoy it.]

[And Dave's response only makes John kiss back harder, pulling him as close as possible when you have your forearms and fists in-between yourself and another person. As his mind clears, he begins thinking of how this changes things, wondering what he'll tell Jades, does he even tell her, is he actually attracted to Dave... Too many questions, coming rapidly at him far too rapidly for him to ignore.

And eventually, he reluctantly pulls himself away from Dave, fists still gripping his shirt, and John bends his head to his forehead touches them, breathing hard.]

I... I don't know... What do I... What now?

[Dave is a little out of breath himself when John pulls back from the kiss (by which I mean panting like he's about ten seconds and a diagnosis away from an asthma attack), and he can't really explain why his eyes fill with tears. His shades clink against John's glasses.]

If you don't want it to, it doesn't have to mean anything.

[It hurts him to say it, and that comes out in the waver of his voice.]

I... I don't know what I want anymore. I don't know if I want you like this or if it's just some weird thing going on. I don't want to hurt you or Jade, but...

[He lets go of Dave and takes a step back, head low.]

I'm an idiot. I shouldn't have called you up here.

[Dave's not stupid. His lips are still tingling, but his stomach is twisted into a cold knot in the pit of his stomach. Still, when John pulls back, a part of Dave wants to follow him and kiss the frown off of his lips. But he doesn't. He forces a smile and raises his hands in front of him.]

Hey, no big. It'll just stay between you and me. Promise. No harm, no foul.

Damn, when did you learn to snog like that, though? Jesus, my knees are still weak.

I don't know. Just came to me.

[He stand in silence for a moment]

I really am sorry. I don't want to lead you on, or...

[Dave shrugs.]

It's cool, John, really. No leading done. My hopes hadn't been lifted that high, Mr. I am Not a Homosexual.

[Dave smiles.]
