[OOC: Karkat's parents should be easy to spot among the other dead ones here. His mother was run over, her neck is twisted to the side and her stomach is sunken on one side, like her organs are missing. His father is the one shot full of bullet holes '^']

_{[Feferi caught up to Karkat fairly easily, and when she saw that he was crying, her heart ached for him. Any words just died in her throat, and she stared at him in silence for a long moment, before she reached out to put her hands on his arms, the tentative prelude to a hug. She knew he didn't like being touched, but...]}

I'm so sorry...

[He lowered his head so she couldn't see his tears. This whole week had just been too much and his parents showing up had been the icing on the proverbial cake. Karkat's hands clenched at his sides and he felt his knees give out from underneath him, dropping to the floor of the hallway. The strength he'd been clinging to was just gone, leaving him almost completely broken, like a doll with its strings cut.]

It's not fair.

_{[Feferi gasped when Karkat fell to his knees, and she followed him down immediately, tears welling in her eyes as she pulled him into a hug whether he wanted one or not. She cupped the back of his head with one hand, stroking his hair comfortingly, her other arm wrapped around his shoulders.]}

I know...

[Hugs generally had no effect on him. He let Gamzee hug him because he knew the Slytherin needed body contact and it felt a little nice. Feferi's hug was completely different. Her body didn't envelope him the same way Gamzee's did and it was...comforting. The stress from the last week or so had been way too much. Karkat lets his hands reach up and clench into her robes, crying silently into her shoulder.]

_{[Feferi felt the shift in Karkat before his hands knotted in her robes, and she gathered him as close as she could, rubbing his back gently and stroking his hair as he shook and cried into her shoulder. She hadn't known about a lot of the things that had happened to him lately until after they happened, and she felt horrible that he had been hurting and she hadn't been there for him, but she was here now, and she was going to make it count. She tilted her head to press her cheek gently against his head.]}

[After what seems to be a long time, Karkat pulls away, wrapping his arms around himself rather than in her robes. He pinched the bridge of his nose, inhaling deeply as he took a moment to compose himself. His cheeks were flushed red, from embarrassment and also from crying.]

_{[Feferi is a little surprised when he pulls away, but she lets him go, withdrawing her hands to her lap. She watches him carefully, and smiles gently at his apology, reaching out to take his hand comfortingly in hers.]

[She's blushing faintly herself, mostly because his pain was almost enough to make her start crying.]}

I don't mind. Really. There's nothing to apologize for, Karkat.

[He stares down at the hand linking with his. It almost feels like it burns, because the last person who touched him like that was Jade. Karkat lowers his head to look at the floor, closing his eyes before barking out a short, sardonic laugh.]

This week sucks balls.

_{[Feferi just sits there, holding his hand, because he didn't pull away. Her heart aches at his laugh, and she squeezes his hand supportively. Her smile fades as she looks down at their hands as well.]}

I bet. ...I can't pretend to know what it's been like, but I'm still here for you. You don't deserve this. Any of it.

_{[And Jade's stupid for leaving you. But Feferi holds that part back.]}

[Karkat's voice is weak, dry. He reaches up to rub his hand across his face, taking a couple of deep breaths. He's trying really hard to steady himself, to keep himself composed and from breaking down like just then.]

After Jade breaking up with me and...that...it's...really good to hear that.

_{[Feferi digs a delicate little white handkerchief out of the pocket of her robes with the hand not holding Karkat's, and offers it to him to dry his eyes.]

[When he says that, she doesn't know what to say for a minute. She smiles softly and squeezes his hand.]}

Personally...I think you did the right thing, decking Strider. It's Jade's fault if she was too blind by the fact that he's her friend to realize that he deserved it.

[He blinks a little when she offers him the handkerchief, a bit perturbed by the fact. Pushing any thoughts of romcoms out of the way, he took it, not using it for a moment before he spoke again.]

Strider's a douche, yeah, and I get that it was a fucking rap battle, but...fuck, you saw Tavros. I don't get how she's so fucking blinded by his fakey fake douchey coolness to see how wrong that was.

_{[Oh hush, she's a pureblood, she doesn't know the connotations of what she's doing.]

[Briefly, she's at a loss for words, simply because she agrees with everything he said.]}

What about you, Karkat? Are you alright? I read the entry you posted, to the journals, and I was just...worried about you...

[He pauses for a moment before looking down at the handkerchief in his hands, toying with it. His voice is small, not like his usual self at all.]

I wasn't ready to see them. Especially dad. I...didn't know he'd been killed in battle...
