[Di opens it eagerly, and spying Karkat, she swoops down and kisses his cheek] Happy birthday again! I don't know if the journals count. How do you think you did on your exam?

[He makes a face at the kiss to his cheek before he shrugs, placing his hands into the pockets of his slacks.]

I think I did okay. Potions was a bitch though.

[She gives a little tsk at his language, but doesn't make a big deal of it, nudging him to the chair that is the least fur covered and ducking behind her desk to pull out a fairly decent sized package]

Potions takes a finesse I never quite got, but keep at it! You might surprise yourself.

[Karkat sits down in the chair a little awkwardly. He's not exactly sure what she thinks of him calling her mom, so he nibbles on his bottom lip for a moment before she pulls out the package. That's...kind of bigger than Uncle Sal's present. Not that he was expecting anything really.]

I'm better at Charms since Latin and Spanish sound similar. [A pause.] What's the box for?

[She sets the box in his lap and grins] It's for you idiot. [It's affectionate really. She calls Sal and Art that all the time]

Go on open it! [It contains a dozen romantic comedy movies, all kept to PG-13 of course, varying in language between English and Spanish, and a small pile of similar looking books] Don't tell Sal or we'll end up having to watch have of these as a family and no one wants that.
