Three ♒

Congratulations on surviving another year, students. I'm sure you'll appreciate your break. However, I would not want for you to become bored.

First, Second, Third and Fourth Years:
Review chapters three through to six of The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts. Be sure to remember the essentials, you will be greeted with a quiz.

Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Years:
Review chapter nine of The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts with great care. There will be a paper in regards to it.

On top of that, because you will be without the use of magic throughout the holidays, I would like for you to consider a question.
In a hypothetical dangerous situation, how would you defend yourself without the use of magic? I expect answers sent to this entry, those who fail to will be finding the answer the hard way.

[Private to Teachers]
If any of the more childish members of the staff have plans for the upcoming teacher prison camp, take my advice, just don't.
We're adults, honestly. If any of you have an nasty little plans you should consider a career change.

[Her tone is just so cheery.] Oh good. So was I, you know. Lucky Mum noticed you wrote out your reply, hm? It made me wonder if you wanted me to write everything out too, but I'll just take that sigh as a "no".

Anyway, to business: if someone was attacking with a wand or another ranged weapon I'd run away in an uneven zigzagging pattern, while if someone was attacking with fists or another close combat weapon I'd try to keep just out of range while hitting them with my cane. If I was being attacked with a vehicle or by a particularly large animal, I'd climb something tall or dodge. If I was attacked by more reasonably-sized wild animal, I'd climb something tall or else wrestle it into submission. The decision on whether to wrestle it depends on the ferocity and poisonousness of the animal. If I was bitten by a wild animal--as is likely to happen when catching them--I'd capture it and get someone to determine if it's poisonous. If yes, I'd head to the doctor with a description of the animal as soon as possible; if not, I'd just bandage the wound and ignore it. ...Though I do suppose I ought to use antiseptics, if possible. If I was attacked by an entire nest of wasps or bees, I'd run, and hide either inside or underwater until they got bored and left. (Just a couple bees or wasps wouldn't bother me; I'm not allergic to them, so.)

Those are the situations that might arise which occur to me off the top of my head.

Thank you, sir.
