I am very sorry I initiated a discussion on masturbation over the school journals and while I still don't really understand why that was wrong of us to do, I can assure you that it won't happen again.
Makara, Jaeger and I were just trying to determine a statistic and weren't intending to get any of you into any kind of trouble with your parents. We are sorry that we ended up doing so.
But in any case, this was all primarily my fault. Makara and Jaeger were only peripherally involved so they shouldn't be held responsible.

Captor, I'm also very sorry for breaking your nose while we were at camp. In fact, I think I'm probably more sorry about that than anything else. Principally because I can't remember why I did it. In any case, I hope you're feeling better. And you're very good with jinxes! I was impressed.

Mr Kishitani, you do realise that sexual issues are generally regarded as improper to discuss in public spaces? It's considered private information that should not be shared out in the open.

That's what everyone has been telling me, but I don't understand why discussing sexual issues and functions is meant to be improper.
How are we meant to learn anything if we're not allowed to talk about them?

It's improper because it's considered information that is meant to be private and personal. It may be a bodily function, but most people would prefer to keep such knowledge to private circles only. And as Professor Mercer has mentioned below, you can always go to a clinic and see a doctor, if you do have any questions regarding masturbation.

In any case, I think I'm probably going to follow Professor Mercer's advice and do research elsewhere. I think I might be more confused now than I was when we started the discussion, so a different sort of research might be for the best.

Well, most of the time our parents are the ones who teach us what's proper and what's not. Or we learn it at school from our teachers. In general, bodily functions are regarded as improper topics to discuss in public for the reasons I listed above; that they are just too private and personal. It does make people very uncomfortable as well.

If you are interested, books are always a good source of information. The local library may have some material that may help, but be sure to consult a doctor for recommendations. Not all information you hear is accurate, and sometimes you need someone with professional experience to help guide you.

They are? My father and I discuss anatomy and bodily functions all the time. At least we do over the summer. We don't get to talk nearly as much during the schoolyear, but I suppose that goes without saying.

I can't speak for the other teachers, but both Professor Donoghue and I have reason to believe that most students weren't acting of their own accord that day. There's an investigation being carried out and I will definitely let the students know if anything comes to light out of it.

From what I've been told, you're right. It is wrong and improper for a number of reasons, but I can't figure out what those reasons are and nobody will tell me.

I am aware that he did. In fact, none of us were intending for anything inappropriate to come out of this and we are very sorry things turned out the way they did. But whatever the case, I certainly wouldn't blame Gamzee for anything that happened.

And I didn't say I wasn't in the wrong. I just said that I didn't understand why I was in the wrong. There's a difference. There are a lot of things I don't understand, but that doesn't mean that they're not valid. Like charms. I've never been able to understand charms, but they definitely exist.

The Hospital Wing at school is also a good place to get information.

I'm also very sorry for inadvertently insulting your family. I didn't necessarily mean to say that they hated muggles. I just thought it might have been a possibility, since a considerable number of wizards do seem to hate the muggle population. I've never really been able to understand that either.

If I remember correctly, it got to be very unpleasant. Most of us weren't badly injured, but I broke Captor's nose and Serket lost an eye. I think she's at St. Mungo's right now, but I'm not sure if they're going to replace it.

Mr. Kishitani, for your month of detention, I am planning to give you and Mr. Makara a course on research ethics. Now, in addition to that class, you have an additional assignment. Using only materials that are available in a library, you are to write an essay on the topics of personal space and personal boundaries, and why it is important to respect them.

Do you know when this course will be taking place, Professor Peixes? Or will that be decided in September?
