Essays.

I'm sure you all just fucking love essays, don't you? Well it's been too long since I assigned one and considering my last assignment mysteriously went missing, that's what you're gonna get. So pick a language of your choice, I don't even care which one. It could be pig Latin for all I care at this point.

Got your language picked out?

Write me ten inches on why people suck.

The first person to complain about this assignment gets 100 points taken away, so just shut up and do it.

Whoever has the most compelling argument on why people suck gets 150 points and the essay blown up and stuck in the entrance hall for everyone to see every day.

It's nice that you would make others think they even have a chance in the matter, but we already know that my essay will be far superior than whatever anyone else can muster.
I don't want to brag, but I already know that my capabilities far exceed others in this topic. Let's be honest here.

It's not a bias favoritism at all. I just so happen to be one of the best students anyone could ever ask for and just so happen to be related to you. It's just an uncanny coincidence.

Because everyone wishes to have a stunning essay about why they think people are scum. I thought I was the only one who was like that.
I don't mind listening. I didn't mind the first time.

Oh.
I sometimes forget that status seems to be solely based on how purified your blood is.
I don't have much to say on the matter other than it isn't true. I like to think I'm a good example of that, but that's laughable at best.
Hmm, but it isn't excusable to have that mindset, although we all still try to abide to it to avoid being ostracized.
Purebloods are like that. Because they are of a lineage, they assume better of themselves because of it. It's quite nasty when you think about it.
But skill does not correlate with lineage! But who would believe that. People are so very full of themselves.

[Guess who pretends to be a little pureblood because she refuses to mention that she's anything but pureblood. The fear of being alienated is crippling, even though she pretends it isn't a thing.]

Welcome to living the life of upperclass wizards whom attend social gatherings on a daily basis as part of their normal lives. Of course, we play the part so well that it usually isn't something people bother to background check, but it's a constant fear that it can happen and we have no way of stopping them from looking up our lineage.

[And Rose is scared someone might be curious to see how far back the Lalonde line goes.]

Au contraire. This is something I'm more than used to dealing with. Society is difficult and fitting in tends to mean bending over backwards unfortunately. The only thing I can hope is that he learns better not to caste people into a hierarchy like so. You think in this day and age, it wouldn't matter. But people are too power hungry and have the need to be so much better than the other that it means we must put others down for the pettiest reasons.

I don't treat people like scum because I can't. Technically...I'm not even considered human to some extent. No matter how diluted.

Did mother never mention our lineage to you or are you not aware of where we lie on the spectrum? Let's put this into perspective.
He probably would not care for my existence if it were universally known of the tiny bit of blood in me that sets me apart. There is many reasons why I had suitors who were infatuated with my looks, even if they were at the end of my sharp tongue. Someone like me would usually not get the time or day.
You do know...that I have veela in me, right? Veela are not considered wizards, so even if I barely have any in me, it's still enough for discrimination. Anything that would put them above you, they'll take. It's a man eat man or creature world out there.

[She hasn't spoken to anyone about that constant fear. Image was everything to her, and it was probably an irrational fear, but a fear. When you grow up in class, knowing what can be, it was hard not to worry about it.]

It is quite a big deal. It's a constant thing that purebloods think about, or so I've grown to assumed. Anything that may dilute your blood is enough for those to put you farther down the ranks so that they may stay on top.
You may think so, but not everyone I meet may think that way. It's something that I will have to accept like my mother and my child if I were to ever have one. Unfortunately.
It's something that one must just accept as cold hard truth. It's easier to accept it early. It saves grief and stress at the very least.

Because this is how our world works. The Ministry doesn't see most magical creatures as people. They just see many of us as...well, creatures.

I...
[There's a long pause.]

I haven't really spoken about this to anyone.

You get used to it I suppose.

[There's a bit of time before she finishes replying.]

I know.

I wasn't considering traveling the upcoming Summer. I just thought to perhaps actually enjoy my time home. Perhaps I can reconsider.

I don't want to put any hopes on, but I'll be sure to think long and hard over the matter.
I will excruciatingly pick out the pros and cons and weigh everything until I have an answer that will truly suffice. Everything will be taken into consideration. It will be so thorough, you won't have any space to make argument.

All my arguments are mindblowing and flawless. Tsk. I thought you would assume that by now.

Do I make you happy?

I guess that was a silly question.

I just felt the need to ask.
