First Petal

It has come to the Ministry's, and therefore my, attention that Hogwarts is in need of some... Assistance. Given the Headmaster's unfortunate inability to keep things under control at camp and even now under his very own roof, the Ministry has seen fit to appoint me High Inquisitor.

I can assure you that this is a very good thing, despite what you may be thinking and on behalf of the Ministry I would like to formally apologize for the events at camp. It is unfortunate that his carelessness would result in such an unfortunate occurrence. I can assure you that while I'm here, none of you will get so out of control.

You may have heard that it was dark magic responsible, but I can promise you that this was a lie made up only to justify a few rowdy teenagers. This will not be tolerated while I'm here, believe me. Everyone's safety is of my utmost concern, and it's up to me to prune the thorny hedges and keep everything nice and orderly.

With that said, I do not tolerate disobedience of any kind, and if I catch any kind of behaviour like what was displayed at camp, the consequences will be severe. This is the only warning I am going to give anyone. I fully expect to get along with every student here, however, so do not let my faith go unrewarded.

Finally, along with my position as High Inquisitor, I have also been appointed Herbology Professor. But considering the importance of the position, it would be best for you to refer to me as Inquisitor Snow rather than Professor.

Eriq don't. You have no idea what trouble he could cause. I know you have your issues with the Jaegers, but you could seriously ruin all of their lives if you do this.

[Oh man, he does not want to get into a fight with her, or even get on her bad side, but he doesn't want to back down either.]

I find it interesting that you don't think that they ruin lives, Aranea. That they are perfectly innocent beings in need of protection. I am only doing what I think is best for me and mine, and I know that being on his good side will afford me certain immunities and benefits that I can then extend to the likes of you and Bruce. However, in order for that to occur, someone must be offered as a sacrifice, and why not offer the worst of the lot? The Jaegers have more than earned that distinguishment.

[She really only skims his words to be honest, too worked up from how Vriska's been treated. And it shows in her writing, her quill pressing harder into the page]

Did you see what he said to Vriska? The threats he's made? What makes you think that he won't turn on you even with your help, he is known for 8eing very 8iased against muggle8orns.

Those who want order the way he wants have only caused disasters to 8oth the magical and muggle world. Is order worth that? Losing all out rights and freedoms?

Well, then I will simply have to be very diligent about behaving not like a muggleborn, won't I? I am used to the discrimination, Aranea, I can handle myself in that matter.

I do not want order, Aranea, in fact I am rather partial to chaos myself. However, this is only a temporary thing. Once he is satisfied that the school is in order, he'll return to the ministry and we can resume our lives a little less burdened by those who would get in our way.

This is not the same as 8eing called a mud8lood Eriq. He has actual power 8ehind his threats. He could ruin your life as well. And all those you call friends.

It won't 8e temporary. Men like this, they don't 8elieve in temporaries. They want their control to stay. He wants Dum8ledore gone and to have himself placed as Headmaster. And then it will only get worse.

He can ruin my magical life, I'm sure of that, but I can still make do in the muggleworld. I was born and raised there, the idea of living without magic is not terribly daunting to me. I am greatful for your concern, but I assure you, I am not so unwise to rely heavily on one path.

So you have little faith in Dumbledore and this school as a whole? Interesting.

And what if he imprisons you. Or worse. I may come from magic myself Eriq, 8ut my grandfather made sure to teach me enough to survive the muggle world. And I can see that there are ways to ruin 8oth lives.

That's not what I said. Dum8ledore is a 8rilliant wizard, 8ut there are many, usually in the high ends of the Ministry who think him insane and want him gone. And my mother has told me enough that I do not trust Snow. And will not ever. He has schemes, and they will harm many of us.

For what? I am a student, I have done nothing wrong. [Although he may have to hide a few of his books a bit better than usual, so there is that] And I won't do anything wrong. He cannot imprison me because of my blood.

So what would you do, Aranea? Give him yet another excuse to bring his wrath down upon your head? If he is so bad as you paint him, then he will do more than just give you detention for such an offence. It would behoove you better to comply, at least until you are at a better tactical advantage.

He will use it as a 8asis to keep an eye on you. And then he will keep digging until he finds something he can use. I would keep an eye on Her8ert too, he could 8e in just as much danger with some of your shared interests.

I don't care. I won't sit down and 8ow to his whims when he is so 8lantly wrong. He can't treat us like this, he can't treat Vriska like that. The only reason I will attempt to 8ite my tongue is for her sake.

Oh god, Herbert. [Oh Aranea, if you could only hear his groan. It is not a happy groan] He's not going to be smart and shut up when things get called into question, either. Oh, the lot of you Ravenclaws! You're so smart, but sometimes, you're so stupid!

And for that matter, I would really rather we continue this conversation in person and in private. Filters can be broken, especially by someone of his power.

I'm glad you're starting to see the potential pro8lems. [Obviously she should play the friend card more] And we're not stupid, we just... take issue with people trying to make us 8elieve stupid things. It goes against our thirst for knowledge.

That's fine. I'm heading outside to check on Templeton right now, if you want to talk now. Otherwise we can set a time for later?
