[You may want to cover your ears for this one, folks. Professor Constance Peixes is angry. She is very angry. She hasn't sent a Howler, but this might as well be one going out to the entire faculty and student body.]

I am absolutely appalled at the degree of inappropriate subject matter that our students are currently discussing in their journals. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, and particularly so for discussing it with incoming first-years. Mr. Makara and Mr. Kishitani, you both have a month's detention, beginning on the first day of fall term. Mr. Makara, for writing the entry in question, and Mr. Kishitani, for encouraging the discussion, particularly among the younger students.

What in Merlin's name were you thinking? This isn't a 'friendly discussion about biology', this was getting students to discuss matters of a highly personal and private nature! And at the ages of eleven, twelve, and thirteen!

AND MY DAUGHTER AMONG THOSE STUDENTS!

You continued arguing about it being perfectly all right to discuss touching oneself after some of the younger girls said they weren't comfortable with it! They were right to think that their mothers wouldn't want to see them in the middle of a discussion like that, because they don't!

To the rest of you: I highly recommend you think before you write a journal entry discussing a topic of a sexual nature, and frankly, I discourage you from doing so.

He folds his arms over his chest and staaaares at the stairs as Eridan comes into view.]

[The moment he sees him standing there and staring at him, he stops in midstep, then continues.

However he doesn't get as far as the end of the stairs when he stops completely, unable to actually look at him now.]

[He taps his foot impatiently.]

[He... hesitantly walks forward, as if the ground is lava or something. This is incredibly painful to him for more than one reason, but eventually he does make it to the other side of the couch.

That's as far as you're getting him, old man.]

Come here, Eridan. I want to talk to you, not the couch.

I'm not goin' to smack you. [yet.] So there's no point in stuffin' about over there. [His voice is dangerously soft right now.]

I want you to elaborate upon the parts that you think I should know about.

But we actually had a nice conwersation about that without actually disclosin' any of my personal information because fuck that, I don't want anyone to know that except for myself.

[Despite having read over this privately and preparing himself to be utterly ruthless and emotionless about it, Murdoc is going a bit pink himself. He supposes Eridan is just at that age, and freaking out over it isn't going to improve the situation any. He's just so fucking mad and he doesn't know what to do.]

Do you think, maybe, you weren't actually OBLIGATED to reply? And that maybe, if you used that BRAIN A YOURS you could've CLOSED YOUR JOURNAL AND IGNORED IT? Do you KNOW WHO READ THAT? DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW EMBARRASSIN' THIS IS FOR BOTH OF US?

[So maybe he's freaking out because the other half of their family is involved, and maybe he shouldn't have yelled so much, but all he can do is give Eridan a bewildered look.]

Okay, he wasn't expecting him to start raising his voi---yes he was, he was expecting him to get all sorts of angry with him because he even knows that he should have just walked away after the second reply like he was going to, but nope. Nope, his stubborn attitude barreled him deeper into the conversation.

Just as it did above.

Obviously, he doesn't even know how to take this, he's able to take discipline better from everyone else, but god damn just. Being yelled at by his father just shut him up to the poitn to where he had to force the words out. Even then, he was still stammering hard to get it out. Yikes.]

[Murdoc hisses through his teeth. Now he's frustrated at Eridan and himself. He hadn't intended on yelling at all, actually. He knows it's far scarier to keep that deadly quiet voice, but it's difficult to keep himself calm enough to do that. He's already been told enough times that teens will be teens, and he supposes that's fair enough. He just doesn't feel like Eridan understands his own reputation as a teacher is on the line here.

That and, of course, Constance is upset and he's expected to do something because it's his daughter. Honestly, he's getting damn tired of this summer and what he needs right now is for his son not to be scared of him.

He softens his expression, seeing that Eridan is obviously regretting his actions, and he places a firm hand on his shoulder. He gives him a soft shake as he leans in a little, not wanting the height difference to be intimidating.]

Promise me you'll try harder to ignore this sorta a thing next time it happens, alright?

[Those few moments of silence, before he did anything? That was even scarier for him because god damn Murdoc, you are a scary man. He really was a big boy, he could take being yelled at by so many other people and still feel bad (if he felt as if he deserved it), but whenever he did it, it was different. This was chipping points away, he could literally feel it whenever he was yelling at him.

Admittingly, when Murdoc reached for him and placed his hand on his shoulder, he winced. He couldn't help it and he didn't even mean to react like that. After he opened his eyes again to see him trying to not be the big scary man that just gave him a slight scare made him feel... a little it better?

Who knows.

All that he knew is that even he needed to shrug off the feeling, it wasn't going to help him at all. He sighs, still trying to not seem as if he was tussled around too much by his words as he replied back as quietly as he could. ]

Y--yes sir.

Good.

[Murdoc nods, letting a little more of his tenseness fall away as he slumps his shoulders. He's honestly put off by that whimper, because he's never been one to strike his children. Of course, he'll swat him around a bit when he's being obnoxious, but his father never hit him and he never intends on hitting Eridan. At least he hopes he never does, anyway.

Finally, he moves away from Eridan and slumps onto the couch, patting a space next to him. He still doesn't look entirely pleased with the boy, but he looks a lot less angry.]

Siddown. I want to talk.

[He knows better than that, he knows for a fact his father wouldn't do something like that and it's not as if being scolded was a new concept to him. He watches Murdoc carefully, just to see what he does next. When he sits down and pats the couch, he knows this conversation is far from over.

He was still a hair nervous, mainly in trying to figure out what else he wanted to talk about, but he wasn't going to show it. He sits down on the couch next to him, trying hard not to look as if he was a little bit bewildered at this talk.]

[Okay, so he's not entirely sure how to address this. HEY ERIDAN, SON, DO YOU KNOW WHAT WANKING MEANS? No. DO YOU WANK? No. Are you interested in that strange clown boy? CERTAINLY NOT. He supposes the smartest thing to do is figure out how Eridan feels about this ordeal and try to make sense of it from there.]

I tried to mainly wander away from topics that weren't comfortable to myself, an' I didn't ewen think to read any other conwersations that were goin' on all that much. I didn't want to end up turnin' to somethin' that I didn't want or need to see.
