Students would only lose access to books that involves Dark Magic. So it would be harder to get something from the restricted section. Hypothetically speaking that is.

No, you would be able to borrow something, but there would be follow up with the teachers that assigned the project and one of us may need to be there when you take it.

It's not surprising at all. Most people are idiots, therefore they have a short-sighted and moronic view of the vital importance of research. Was there someone in particular you were thinking of, though?

I'm not sure I understand. If most people are idiots, wouldn't they be in favour of more research practices? I think that would stand to reason since research and discovery ultimately serve to expand human knowledge as a whole. So, a more sympathetic approach to magical and scientific exploration would really be a self serving approach in the end.

And I'm not entirely sure of what happened, but I think Pines may have been cut off from the library.

Kishitani, you're making the assumption that stupid people actually have the common sense to know they're stupid. Do you realize, there are people in America who think that global warming is a political conspiracy? Idiots are experts at keeping themselves in the dark as to just how moronic they really are.

I suppose they wouldn't be aware of how stupid they were if they were constantly surrounded by like-minded people. However, at some point, they must have to interact with intelligent people and the differences between their thought processes must have been obvious enough to be undeniable at the least and inspiring at the most.

The mob, the vast majority of idiots that live in this world, will try and stamp out anything they don't understand. And people like you and I will always think in ways they can't comprehend. They won't be inspired, they'll look for ways to thwart us and object at every turn. You'll have to be prepared for that, it's the way of the world.

And I don't think he is, but I don't think he's all that clever, either. Certainly not enough to avoid getting caught.

It was inspired by recent events, but as of now it's principally speculation. So, I wouldn't become unnerved just yet, if I were you.

If students were to hypothetically lose the privilege through misbehaviour I do not imagine those punishing them would sympathise with them.

My suggestion would be to work on getting them back, if it were indeed the result of hypothetical student shenanigans.

I don't think your situation is anything like that. They were probably intending for library bans to become a form of punishment anyway. You just happened to be the first person to encounter them, so I wouldn't blame myself if I were you.

Well he can't take Hogsmeade from me just yet, so I guess library rights were the next best thing considering I spend a lot of time in there. Still, I wouldn't blame people if they started blaming me. I should've stepped back before I did.

If that's the case, he'll probably just ban the rest of us from Hogsmeade and nobody would think to associate that with you.
In any case, I have no idea of what it is that you did, but I do think that Professor Snow may return your library privileges if you're polite enough to him.

It would depend on the subject at hand, but I was primarily thinking along the lines of field research.

I was just wondering since library research has never been my thing, it's boring as hell!

You do have a point. Library research is far from being the most effective or interesting means of discovery, but it is better than nothing.
