_{[He doesn't speak until they get to the isolated place on the grounds they're headed to. Even then, he just stands there in silence, staring at the ground. But this is something he needs to say. Finally, he inhales sharply and breaks the ice with a fucking chainsaw.]}

I want to get an exemption from having to take flying.

[Bro... isn't prepared to hear that. He expected Dirk to hem and haw around the subject, not to just dive right in. And that is the last thing he expected to hear.

But. He realizes immediately that he isn't surprised at all. But it hits him in a bad way and he just... he feels bad.]

_{[This is a bit of a stalemate. Dirk feels bad for having to say this, but he can't help it. He can tell he's upset his uncle by it, but this is another thing he can't help.]}

_{[He doesn't know how to even react to that. It's disappointing, but what can he expect? He's still determined to not go, though.]}

[A big part of it's pride. Only just last year, he taught the class. Before transferring, he'd been so damn excited to teach Dirk and Dave how to fly. So... hearing this, it's a little upsetting. He can understand why, but... He can't just let Dirk give up on the whole flying part of being a wizard just because of what happened.]

Dirk, flying's... the best fucking part of being a Wizard. There's pretty much nothing better. I just... don't want you to miss out on that.
