Hello, darlings! I hope you are all having a very fun and safe summer holiday so far. My name is Milla Vodello, and starting in the fall I'll be your new Charms professor! Well, for some of you, anyway. I will be sharing classes with Miss Matteris, and I'm not sure how we are splitting them yet. Don't worry, though, I'm sure you'll get just as rewarding a class whichever one of us you're assigned to, darlings! I am looking forward to meeting you when the new term starts! Hello, hello! I haven't played with this too much yet, but I certainly see a lot of familiar faces from my own days at school here. Unless my eyes are playing tricks, of course! What a lovely coincidence, that so many of us from around the same time are back here now. It's almost like a reunion! Anyway, how is everyone feeling about the retreat?

I hope you students have not yet managed to fatally wound yourselves. We've only been out of school for a week, and I'd hope you lot could survive for a few months without close supervision.

I will not be assigning any summer work, but I do expect for you all to come to school with the proper books and with memories of what you learned the year prior. I'd rather not have to reteach you the basics again.

First let me say a great big hello to all of you! I hope you're all excited for the Summer holidays. I certainly am! But I feel like before everyone leaves for the holidays next month, we have some things that we need to discuss. I hope that none of you mind that I took the liberty of having the house elves deliver tea to all of you as, as well as giving you a note telling you to check for this entry. So all of you should be here soon, I should hope. Unless you intend to ignore this, but please don't. I would be disappointed in you.

Anyway, the point of this is to discuss the going ons lately! We have not had a staff meeting in a while and I figured one over the journals would be much better! That way, we can sit in the comfort of our own offices and discuss things. I think the biggest thing we should discuss is this fighting.

So much fighting going on! We need to figure out a way to make the students get along. Preferably before the end of the year, or else they will all go home stewing on things and that is not healthy at all. While I know that Mister Strider just won the egg competition, I think perhaps he needs talking to. I don't think we should dock the points though, as those were certainly well earned and he and Mister Robinson were a very good example. Mister Vantas was most definitely out of line in some of the things he said, so I feel all the blame does not belong solely on Mister Strider.

This is just touching on the surface, I think. If anyone else has things they want to bring forth and lay on the table, you are more than welcome to! At any rate, I am done for now and will wait patiently for everyone to respond.

Alright, students. It's time for this week's assignments!

First years, I want an essay reviewing the different hand motions of all charms covered in class, at a minimum of eight inches. Second years, again an eight inch minimum, but on building and maintaining magic within a wand. If you copy The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2 in anyway, I will know.

Third years, 18 inches minimum on the benefits of proper pronunciation. It may seem trivial and basic, but with the sheer amount of you becoming distracted by personal relationships, I feel it necessary to return to the basics.

Fourth, 16 inches on the pros and cons of summoning and memory charms.

For fifth years, I expect no less than 20 inches on the most commonly used offensive and defensive charms, and their various counter-charms. Try not to forget that your O.W.L.s are approaching.

Sixth years, 24 inches on nonverbal spells, any disadvantages and advantages the nonverbal charm may have, and how concentration and mental ability affect the power of spells cast.

And for the seventh years that have remained in charms, I want an essay on the charms you have found most useful over your time in Hogwarts, why you find them useful, how you have used them, and how they will benefit you in the future. There is no length minimum, but I expect you to cover at least six charms, and I will grade based on how much detail you put into your reasonings.

Today was another self realised lesson that I should stop going into book stores alone.

If it wasn't bad enough I missed out on the sorting ceremony on the first night, due to finding myself in Flourish and Blotts. I get back to my room to realise not only have I realised that I have spent all my day off in Tomes and Scrolls, but I have spent far much more money than I intended. I had only intended to pick up a charms book I ordered.

I suppose however I can't be all that upset, I did find some fantastic reading materials. Which means when I don't have to grade papers, I will be most pre-occupied.
